development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use it. The Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server provides native connectivity from Windows to Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Azure SQL Database. SQLSTATE provides detailed information about the cause of a warning or error. For errors that occur in the data source detected and returned by SQL Server, the SQL Server Native Client ODBC driver maps the returned native error number to the appropriate SQLSTATE. If a native error number does not have an ODBC error code to map to, the SQL Server Native Client ODBC driver returns SQLSTATE 42000 ("syntax error or access violation"). For errors that are detected by the driver, the SQL Server Native Client ODBC driver generates the appropriate SQLSTATE.For more information about the state error codes, see the following topics:Appendix A: ODBC Error CodesSQLSTATE MappingsSee AlsoHandling Errors and Messages Community Additions ADD Show: Inherited Protected Print Export (0) Print Export (0) Share IN THIS ARTICLE Is this page helpful? Jun 05, 2012 https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms131387.aspx 03:19 PM|xbaldxaaronx|LINK I'm new to asp.net and managed to get a web page setup on my workstation that pulls info from a SQL database to display in Gridview. However; I've had some trouble getting that working on a server. Whenever I browse to a page that uses DB info, I get an error. Jun 05, 2012 03:24 PM|Mikesdotnetting|LINK The user account you are using to connect to SQL Server does not have permission to connect. As an aside, you should not be using ODBC with SQL Server. It was deprecated 10 or more years ago. You should be using SqlClient:http://www.connectionstrings.com/sql-server-2008#p1 Cheers, Mike ASP.NET Tutorials Reply xbaldxaaronx Member 1 Points 18 Posts Re: ERROR [42000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot open database "ResourceUt... I actually spent quite some time searching and analyzing our code. We have a job calling a stored procedure which selects some data and then calls other stored procedures (some which sql server error names are retrieved using the select-statements, since they might vary). It calls about 20 different of these stored procedures about 10'000 times (summed up the different calls), just varying the parameters. These stored procedures retrieve some data and then inserts the data into our databse. Version of SQL-Server This worked fine in Microsoft SQL-Server 2005, but since a little while we upgraded to SQL-Server 2012 (11.0.3000.0) and this problem seems to started occurring since then, or we simply were not aware of it before. Error So we get this error every time we execute it: Executed as user: #DATABASEUSER_RMV_FOR_STACKOVERFLOW. Incorrect syntax near ')'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 102) Incorrect syntax near ')'.
