it only takes a minute: Sign up Msg 4834 “You do not have permission to use the bulk load statement” [closed] up vote 5 down vote favorite I am getting this error no matter what I try. I have a bulkadmin security risk stored proc with execute as: CREATE PROCEDURE usp_myproc WITH EXECUTE AS 'myuser' Within this s.p. I have EXEC('INSERT INTO ' + @tablename + ' SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM OPENROWSET( BULK '''+ @filepath +''', FORMATFILE='''+ @formatfile +''', FIRSTROW=2 )as t' ) The myuser does have bulkadmin role, read/write, create table, insert, select, execute, alter permissions. Some of them might not be needed, but that's what I've tried so far. What am I missing? The trustworthy solution is quick and dirty. You are better of using the other option I provided.. –Edward Dortland Jan 9 '14 at 20:42 3 It might be off-topic for SO but it seems like a valid question. Maybe somebody could move it to DBA.se? –Edward Dortland Jan 9 '14 at 21:47 | show 4 more comments 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 11 down vote accepted As I said in the comment, server level permissions are stripped the moment you use impersonation. When doing this through a SQL Server Agent Job you have to aware of the job settings for "Execute as".I have a case where I set the "Execute as" person to someone who is in the SQL Server sysadm role and who also in you do not the Administrators group on the server. However they are not able to do the bulk import (and neither can my similarly set up account with a similar situation). Our Agent service normally runs under the local system account in our test server. This also didn't work in our production server which uses a domain account normally for running jobs. Here is the error code in the job:Date 10/14/2010 1:56:28 PMLog Job History (
