I've been getting a ton of conversion errors: Msg 4864, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Bulk load data conversion error (type mismatch or invalid character for the specified codepage) for row 5902, column 2 (Type). OK so first things first: a) the data comes from a parser i built in C#. In this file, there are 4 columns, separated by tabs. The columns may or not be null. The collation is UTF-8. Here's an excerpt of it. msg 4863, level 16, state 1, line 1 D00486 DBLinks PubChem 7847552 D00486 DBLinks LigandBox D00486 **D00487 Name Pyridostigmine bromide (JP15/USP/INN)** -- WORKS D00487 Name Mestinon (TN) D00487 Chemical 260.016 C9H13N2O2. What really amazes me is that the other line i've placed on bold is quite similar yet does not generate any error whatsoever. b) This is what i'm using to create the table: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[KB] ([BEName] [nvarchar](1000) NOT NULL, [Type] [nvarchar](1000) NULL, [Name] [nvarchar](1000) NULL, [Value] [nvarchar](1000) NULL) ON [PRIMARY] c) This is what i'm currently using to import the data from a file: DECLARE @SQL nvarchar(4000) SET @SQL = 'BULK INSERT KB FROM ''C:\KB.xml'' WITH (FirstRow = 1, FORMATFILE = ''C:\out_KB.fmt'')'; EXEC(@SQL) I had to manually generate the fmt file because for some reason BCP could not connect to my database (still working out the basics on it...) so it may be possible that it's not as it should be. Either way, here are it's contents: 9.0 4 1 SQLCHAR 0 100 "" 1 BEName SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS 2 SQLCHAR

I was wondering if there is a way to capture this error when it occurs. Before I specified the MAXERRORS to 1 I got this error: Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)". Since the former error is much more descriptive to the problem, that is the one I'd like to record. sql-server error-handling try-catch share|improve this question edited Apr 12 at 7:11 Athafoud 1,57211533 asked Dec 3 '13 at 16:20 HelloWorld 1031922 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted +50 Though my competence is more Oracle than SQL Server, anyway I'll try to help somehow with this issue. I discovered that your situation is already in the bugtracker of SQL Server (bug id: 592960) with status "Won't fix" since 20

Unfortunately, I cannot provide the contents of StudyTable.csv, to protect the privacy of the company we're working for. EDIT I can vouch for the validity of the csv file though. It was exported from OpenOffice's version of Excel, and I went through and made sure it was valid. EDIT2 Here's a dummy version of the CSV file: 1234,,,1234,1234,,"asdf","asdf","Z","asd",7/1/2010 12:23,8/5/2010 13:36,9/4/2010 13:36,"(asdf,1661,#1234,F,T)","F",,,"F",,"68866",1234,1234,1234,"F" Here's a create script for the STUDY table: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[STUDY] ( [STUDY_ID] INT IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [PARENT_ID] INT, [GROUP_ID] INT, [WORKFLOW_NODE_ID] INT, [STUDY

Please note that this error has occurred with the server running a 0.8.x release as well. There is an error handler on the server which is returning the error data that is always as follows: message: 'Parse Error', code: 'HPE_INVALID_CONSTANT', stack: 'Error: Parse Error\n at Socket.socketOnData (http.js:1485:20)\n at TCP.onread (net.js:404:27)' Once this error appears, it will appear on every connection the server makes until the server finally crashes under a dozen connections later with the following message: events.js:69 throw arguments[1]; // Unhandled 'error' event ^ Error: socket hang up at createHangUpError (http.js:1383:15) at ServerResponse.OutgoingMessage._writeRaw (http.js:499:26) at ServerResponse.OutgoingMessage._send (http.js:466:15) at ServerResponse.OutgoingMessage.write (http.js:770:16) at IncomingMessage.
