I need your kind assistance. We are maintaining 2 production database. We always encounter hanging of the system whenver we are accessing this one database. This happened since last Friday, February 13 until now. When this happened, we cannot anymore access the DB through Enterprise Manager and we are left with no choice but to restart the system. After restart the system and http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic660010-265-1.aspx DB is already ok. The last time we encountered it is just yesterday and when we access the tables in DB, it displays a message that it is in a suspect mode and when we restart it, then its ok. Also, when we run scheduled shrink and backup of this DB, it always failed since that date. Below is the usual error we encounter:Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: MSSQLSERVEREvent Category: (2)Event ID: 17052Date: 02/18/2009Time: 6:43:30 PMUser: N/AComputer: RETAILIGENCEDescription:Error: 0, Severity: 19, State: 0SqlDumpExceptionHandler: Process 52 generated fatal exception c0000005 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. 644 Discussion in 'General Developer Questions' started by blueFrench, Feb 3, 2005. blueFrench New Member Tried to search on this forum http://www.sql-server-performance.com/forum/threads/fatal-error-644.10710/ about this error and found nothing. I found an article on BOL http://www.bigresource.com/MS_SQL-Index-Fail-Error-644-2yg7EsrH.html but it didn't help much either. BOL says: Record the value of index page and index ID specified in the error text. After DBCC CHECKDB I got: Could not find the index entry for RID '16f89700100' in index page (1:7626), index ID 0, database '???' (???=my db). Tried to sql server look at sysindexes and got no Index = 0? Need help thanks! blueFrench, Feb 3, 2005 #2 thomas New Member Index Id = 0 means data itself, as opposed to index pages. You need to associate the page number (7626) with the object that it is and deal with it. Example, copy the data out of the table, drop and recreate it, sql server error rebuild its indexes and constraints etc. There is an MSKB article somewhere on how to assoicate a page with an object, I'll try to dig it out. Alternative you could re-run your DBCC CHECKDB with the REPAIR, ALLOW_DATA_LOSS clause, or just the REPAIR clause, and see how you get on. Or if you've found out the table name, do the equivalent with DBCC CHECKTABLE for brevity's sake. Warning: back the database up before running checkdb or checktable with the repair option. Tom Pullen DBA, Oxfam GB thomas, Feb 3, 2005 #2 thomas New Member Oh yes and check for hardware errors - these are often the underlying cause of DBCC errors. run a disk consistency check in your RAID tools if possible. Tom Pullen DBA, Oxfam GB thomas, Feb 3, 2005 #2 blueFrench New Member hi! thanks for the reply. i ran dbcc checktable and still got errors, by the way i can't get to run dbcc checkdb, i tried to run sqlservr.exc -c -m. still with no luck. anyway, here what i got: There are 150497 rows in 6907 pages for object mytable
(1:1683508), index ID 0, database 'TR'.. Error: 644, Severity: 21, State: 3 We run dbcc CheckDB on the TR DB with no error: CHECKDB found 0 allocation errors and 0 consistency errors in database 'TR'. I read JohnSharp post, and tried the script from Paul: DBCC CHECKTABLE (sysindexes) WITH NO_INFOMSGS, ALL_ERRORMSGS it return no erros as well, anyone got any more info on whats this error is? At the time of this happen, its seems that a process is running, which run some stored proc which will create some temp tables, will that message be relating to some index that created on the tempdb (from the temp tables) rather then the index on the TR DB? Since we can't even tell which table its affected, is there any way to find out? Thanks.
