Sort is retrying the read.I've run dbcc checkdb(MyData) but that said 0 errors found 0 errors repaired. This is a sql 2005 instance and the DB page verify is set to checksumAny ideas from a SQL viewpoint? whilst I also ask the infrastructure team to check the D: drive Post #1286664 GilaMonsterGilaMonster Posted Thursday, April 19, 2012 1:54 PM SSC-Forever Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Yesterday @ 5:50 AM Points: 45,366, Visits: 43,634 It's a sort page, so temporarily allocated for a sort operation, probably an index rebuild, and deallocated afterwards. Hence by the time CheckDB ran, the page had long since been deallocated. Deallocated pages can't be checked with checkDB as they are not part of the consistent database structure. That said, something's up with the IO subsystem if that could happen at all, check carefully. Join Now Hello folks, We started having issues with our main application last week. Some users started getting error message 823 and a connection failure. I checked Event Viewer and found event 823. I ran DBCC CHECKDB(dbname) WITH NO_INFOMSGS and got the following output: Msg 8921, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Check terminated. A failure was detected while collecting facts. Possibly tempdb out of space or a system table is inconsistent. Check previous errors. Msg 823, Level 24, State 2, Line 1 The operating system returned error 1(Incorrect function.) to SQL Server during a read at offset 0x000005a4412000 in file 'E:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\dbname_data.mdf:MSSQL_DBCC15'. This error can be caused by many factors; for more information, see SQL Server Books Online. TempDB.mdf and TempLog.ldf are located in a HDD with 244GB of free space. dbname_data.mdf is stored on a RAID 5 Array with 4 hard drives of which one was in a failure state for some time (don't know for how long because I just stated working here). I replaced the hard drive with a new one and successfully rebuilt the array. The last successful backup we have is from 9/1/14 and if I restore it we will lose the data we entered since that day. I've tried performing another backup but I get the same error 823. I checked the status of the database an
