The log can fill when the database is online, or in recovery. If the log fills while the database is online, the database remains online but can only be read, not updated. If the log fills during recovery, the Database Engine marks the database as RESOURCE PENDING. In either case, user action is required to make log space available.Responding to a full transaction logThe appropriate response to a full transaction log depends partly on what condition or conditions caused the log to fill.To discover what is preventing log truncation in a given case, use the log_reuse_wait and log_reuse_wait_desc columns of the sys.database catalog view. For more information, see sys.databases (Transact-SQL). For descriptions of factors that

No jobs or applications are failing that can be tied to these events. The user databases have light, but steady activity. I don't know of any jobs that are allocating big http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic564662-5-1.aspx temp tables. Can I have some advice on what I should be looking for to find the cause of tempdb's log full message? Thanks much,Ken No good deed goes unpunished. Large adhoc or runaway queries? Is the tempdb set to autogrow? The log file seems awful small for tempdb (.59 mb??) with 24Gb free space. tempdb is the workhorse for SQL so I'd increase the size. This will eliminate the warnings and likely improve performance. If increasing the size doesn't resolve the issue or you cannot find any of the other causes I've listed, try using profiler to trap what exactly is running. -- You can't be late until you show up. of SQL Error 9002 In previous articles we have discussed about temporary tables in SQL Server and know how to create them, Now http://www.sqlserverlogexplorer.com/error-9002-transaction-full/ in this article we will discuss how to fix SQL Server Error 9002, when the transaction logs are full in a log file. In SQL server when a log file is http://www.bigresource.com/MS_SQL-The-log-file-for-database-039-tempdb-039-is-full-Back-up-the-transact-oJPeoxAY.html filled up from transaction logs, it shows SQL Error 9002. Generally the transaction logs are filled up when the SQL server database is online or if it is in recovery mode. sql server In such situation if the transaction logs are filling continuously and the database is online, it remains online, but cannot be modernized. If the transaction log file filled up at the time of recovery, the database is marked as a RESOURCE PENDING, by the database engine. In such situation, it is necessary to make log space available. SQL Error MSG 9002 Specification: the transaction log The SQL Server shows Severity Level 19 Error Message: Required Actions for the Error 9002: The following user actions are required for the SQL Server Error 9002. Create a backup and truncate the transaction logs. Make the log space available. Move log file to another disk drive. Increase the size of log file. Add another log file on a separate disk. The above actions are discussed below: 1. Create a backup and truncate the transaction logs. If your database is in full or bulk-logged recovery model, and if the transaction log is not backed up, you must need to take the backup of your transaction logs and allow Database Engine to truncate the transaction logs to the point of the last backup. This will frees some space for new transactions. 2. Make the disk space available You need to make the disk space available by deleting or moving some other files on which the transaction log file is contained. 3. Move log file to another disk drive If you are not able to make the disk space available for the drive on which your transa
