That said, if it's been restoring for a while - it's possible the restore was done incorrectly. You didn't give enough information to really figure out what's wrong, so I'm going to make some guesses here...Look at the database in Enterprise Manager, does it show LOADING?If you are not actively restoring the database, but it's still in a restoring state (LOADING) that means that the option WITH NORECOVERY was probably used and the database is awaiting another file to be restored.Try running this command:RESTORE dbnameWITH RECOVERYChange the dbname part to the real name of your database.-SQLBill Post #109991 Killer -136848Killer -136848 Posted Tuesday, April 6, 2004 7:40 AM Forum Newbie Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Thursday, May 6, 2004 7:35 AM Points: 4, Visits: 1 Yes, correct, it says LOADING, and i haven't done anything to start a restore. But here' comes a real newbi question! Sometime later vendor tried to do some upgrades to the database. When they restarted SQL Server it failed to start. Looking http://dba.stackexchange.com/questions/61300/can-not-start-sql-server-model-db-in-restoring-state at error log. I found the following error Error The database 'model' is marked RESTORING and is in a state that does not allow recovery to be run. Error: 927, Severity: 14, State: 2. Database 'model' cannot be opened. It is in the middle of a restore. Could not create tempdb. You may not have enough disk space available. Free additional disk space by deleting other files on the tempdb drive and then restart SQL Server. Check for additional errors in the event log that may indicate why the tempdb files could not be initialized. after searching around on the web found this article on MSDN using steps from article started sql server using Sqlservr.exe -sInstanceName -T3608 -c -f -T3609 when i tried to run Use tempdb got error message. Encrypted using TDE!! 19 Tuesday Jul 2011 Posted by Subhro Saha in Database Mirroring ≈ Leave a comment TagsDatabase Mirroring, Encrytption, Error 927, TDE Today I was doing some testing in Mirroring in one of my alpha server. I was using SQL Server 2008 https://subhrosaha.wordpress.com/tag/error-927/ Enterprise R2 RTM. I was trying to set up mirroring on a database that was encrypted using the new feature introduced in SQL Server 2008 called Transparent Database Encryption (TDE). In this blog I am not going to give the details on how to set up mirroring, for that I need to write a separate blog. I was trying to set up mirroring using GUI. I completed all the configurations and the moment I sql server tried to Start the mirroring I got the below exception: I think there is some issue with SSMS GUI. To workaround this problem I used TSQL to setup mirroring and it worked. I have already created the endpoints with default Port 5022 to configure mirroring so I am not going to show how to create Endpoints using TSQL in this Blog. -On Mirror Server, execute the following TSQL: ALTER DATABASE
