Sql Server Port Change
SQL Server Configuration Manager I get error 10048 when start sql service and this in event history: The SQL server service terminated with server-specific error. Only one usage of each socket (protcol/network address/port) is normall permitted. Any idea howto fix this ? Port set is the default 1433... If this is turned off, which is default of course, SQL service starts like a champ. I have done this config many times on other servers with no problem. sql-server windows-server-2008-r2 sql-server-2008-r2 share|improve this question edited server tcp provider failed to listen on [ 'any'

Ive found sometimes it doesn't seem to matter how much you extend the timeout, the error still occurs, but altering the report execution or structure, fixes this issue.finally mdacs etc should also be looked at as well. Not a fix but hopefully a step in the right direction ?CheersAdam ------------------------------Life is far too important to beSoftware Troubleshooting and Assistance Internet Security and Malware Help SQL Server error 10048 Custom Search Join the PC homebuilding revolution! (Use Telnet and telnet to that port on your server) If TCP/IP is not working switch the net-library your client uses to the named pipes or Multiprotocol one. (this link should help : http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...lient_7v03.asp) Hope this helps Ferengi Rules of Acquistion: Rule # 47 Don't trust a man wearing a better suit than your own. Now the SQL Server (Instance 2008) in the services won't start. I get error saying: windows could not start the sql server (Instance2008) service on local computer - code 10048 I looked everywhere online and it seems like it has something to do with the login user. Question 1) - what is the password for log on (NT Service\ Instance 2008) as I see in my case the domain/user so I guess I need to change it to NT Service but I don't know the password ? Question 2)- Is it possible to run sql server 2012 and 2008 r2 on same computer at the first place ? as both are using 1433 port in TCP/IP settings. ?
