Submit Posted by Microsoft on 11/18/2011 at 1:13 PM Hi Anthony, let me know if you are still seeing this issue.thanks,Robert Posted by Anthony Tyler on 1/25/2011 at 11:41 AM I extracted the files on a physical machine useing winzip and Roxio. Then I copied he files to the server (which already had SQL 2008 installed). I ran the install from the physical hard drive.I continue to get the error. Posted by Microsoft on 1/23/2011 at 9:33 PM Anthony, here is a workaround that another user that hit this tried with success. You are correct we believe, this has something to do with the environment that the ISO is decompressed/mounted, we have been unable to determine a root cause however."mounting the ISO on my laptop (the Virtual PC host box) and extracting the setup files... then copying the setup files onto the C drive in the VHD... then running the setup off those setup files in the C drive of the VHD... that solved the problem." I am https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/632617/error-installing-sql-2008-r2-error-code-2337 using a .iso for SQL 2008 R2 Standard downloaded from MSDN. I have tried installing several times {upgrade, fresh install, uninstall-reinstall} Same error every time. I downloaded a fresh ISO from msdn, same error. I tried SQL 2008 R2 EE. Same. I tried https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/63ad33ad-900a-4cdb-af16-c6860b329296/sql-2008-r2-error-code-2337?forum=sqlsetupandupgrade unpacking the ISO to a local HDD. Same. My VM has plenty of hdd space, the source/destination work fine. No Antivirus getting in the way either. 2008 R2 - Error Code 2337 while installing on Virtual PC2007 SQL Server 2008 R2 - Error Code 2337 while installing on Virtual PC2007 July 20, 2011 randypaulo Leave a comment Go to comments While preparing https://randypaulo.wordpress.com/2011/07/20/sql-server-2008-r2-error-code-2337-while-installing-on-virtual-pc-2007/ a new VPC image for our new development standards using BizTalk 2010, I've encountered http://serverfault.com/questions/290095/sql2008r2-install-issues-on-windows-7-unable-to-install-setup-support-files an error during the installation of SQL Server 2008 R2 with error code 2337; even though the service is installed when I tried to start the SQL Service it throws out a faultexception about sqlsrv.exe. As it turns out the problem lies with the Capture ISO feature of the Virtual PC 2007 itself, so to solve this sql server I've used 7-Zip to extract the contents of iso file then shared the folder and ran it from there.
