find stored procedure Discussion in 'General DBA Questions' started by matey, Jun 17, 2006. matey New Member Hi all I get the following error Executed as user: 'service account'. Could not find http://www.sql-server-performance.com/forum/threads/error-2812-cannot-find-stored-procedure.7765/ stored procedure 'up_stored_procedure'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 2812). The step failed when I execute up_stored_procedure. The stored procedure exists in the correct database and I also connect to the right database before executing the stored procedure. I have http://stackoverflow.com/questions/847879/could-not-find-stored-procedure not seen the error before and i've run out of ideas at the moment. Has anyone seen this behaviour before and how do I go about correcting the issue. Thanks matey, Jun 17, 2006 #2 Luis Martin sql server Moderator Did you try with Query Analyzer? For a small piece of new functionality I wrote a stored procedure to do an insert. This is the only user stored procedure in the database. When I attempt to call the stored procedure from code I get the following error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14' Could not find stored procedure 'InsertGroup'. /newGroup.asp, line 84 The DB uses SQL Server authentication. When I connect to the DB server in Visual Studio using the same user/pw as in the connection string the stored procedure is not visible but all tables are. The user has datareader and datawriter roles and explicit execute permission on the stored procedure. What am I missing? UPDATE: My apologies, the server admin misinformed me that it was a 2000 server when it is actually a 2005 server (running on Windows Server 2003 x64). sql-server stored-procedures share|improve this question edited Oct 9 '13 at 3:00 Drew 19.6k53850 asked May 11 '09 at 12:30 Chloraphil 1,38872740 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 27 down vote accepted Walk of shame: The connection string was pointing at the live database. The error message was completely accurate - the stored procedure was only present in the dev DB. Thanks to all who provided excellent answers, and my apologies for wasting your time. share|improve this answer answered May 11 '09 at 15:21 Chloraphil 1,38872740 2 You should probably mark this as the answer, to help others who may not read to the bottom.
