Replication to invalid object name 'syspublications' sql server & from the servers are fine exceptfor one server. You cannot edit ANY setting, removeANY publication or subscriber, or add a publication. the following error pops up... The Distributor is not available. Error 208: Invalid object name 'msdb.dbo.MSdistpublishers'What's really freaky is that replication is still running 100%Also, when you run SELECT @@SERVERNAME on the problem server, it returns NULL.Does anybody have a clue...???Thanks in advance!!! This was on SQL 2000 SP3a and is a cluster instance. We ran sp_dropserver on the local instance name (sp_dropserver 'server\server'). The extra row in sysservers was removed. We ran sp_addserver 'server\server', 'local'. This added the srvid = 0 row back to master..sysservers. (Aside - I have no idea what would happen if you did not sp_dropserver and instead did sp_addserver 'server\server', 'loc

Here is the email (modified a bit to make it relevant to this blog post)."Pinal,We are facing a very strange issue. One of our query related to backup files and backup set has stopped working suddenly in SSMS. It works fine in http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic229812-7-1.aspx application where we have and in the stored procedure but when we have it in our SSMS it gives following error.Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Invalid object name ‘dbo.backupfile'.Here are our queries which we are trying to execute. SELECT name, database_name, backup_size, http://blog.sqlauthority.com/2012/08/31/sql-server-error-fix-msg-208-invalid-object-name-dbo-backupset-invalid-object-name-dbo-backupfile/ TYPE,

SELECT logical_name, backup_size, file_type
FROM dbo.backupfile; This query gives us details related to backupset and backup files when the backup was taken."When I receive this kind of email, usually I have no answers directly. The claim that it works in stored procedure and in application but not in SSMS gives me no real data. I have requested him to very first check following two things:If he is connected to correct server? His answer was yes.If he has enough permissions? His answer was he was logged in as an admin. This means there was something more to it and I requested him to send me a screenshot of the his SSMS. He promptly sends that to me and as soon as I receive the screen shot I knew what

This server acted both as publisher and distributor. Then the RAID on the server failed. However we managed to detach invalid object name and copy almost all .mdf files before the crash. After the system restored, we reinstalled SQL Server, restored system databases (master, model, msdb) and placed the .mdf files to the same paths. So it started. The problem appeared with the replication. The Local Publications folder was empty, though the Local Subscriptions folder contained the subscription in question. When I tried to add a new publication I got: New Publication Wizard encountered one or more errors while retrieving publication names. An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) Invalid object name 'dbo.syspublications'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 208) I decided to try to remove the left subscription (eventually I managed to) and disable publishing and distribution on the server, which gave me: SQL Server could not disable publishing and distribution on 'someserver'.
