Maybe the database isn't available anymore. So I really need a list of error codes that I can handle in the code. –Antineutrino Nov 27 '12 at 12:47 The list of error messages in the database is a static list. You can execute the query on an SQL Server install to see the full list of error codes and associated messages. You can use the message_ids from that list in code to handle however you wish. –Travis Aug 7 '13 at 15:19 add a comment| up vote 3 down vote I was also looking for a list myself and found out that you could view them all from the master DB by running this statement: SELECT * FROM sysmessages share|improve this answer answered Sep 4 '15 at 15:16 Jose 1407 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote I'm unable to find a list of the individual codes in the internet. The error message text often includes placeholders for information (such as object names) to be inserted in the error message when it is displayed. Unfortunately, the error message text does not tell you how to solve or work around the problem. In this series of Error Messages list, we will try to provide you with ways on how to overcome or work around certain error messages. Some error messages are self-explanatory and can easily be fixed, such as "Invalid object name". Others are harder to fix or work around, especially by those who are new to SQL Server.
