Go to the SQL Configuration Manager. (You can refer to the link above for a walk through with screen shots to get there)Expand the SQL Network Configuration and click on the PROTOCOLS nodeRight click on TCP/IP and open up the PROPERTIES panelSelect the IP ADDRESS tabMake sure the values for the IP ADDRESS fields are correct and match the system it is running on.Restart the service, and you should be back in business, I was.On a side note, this is also the same place where lots of people get hung up when setting up remote access to a SQL Server instance.Make sure you fill in the TCP PORT, even if you are using the default 1433.7. Now extract and you should have your content without any errors out of RAR files. If you are still experiencing the issue you can try SQL Server Fix Toolb

Join them; it only takes a pre login handshake error sql server minute: Sign up SQL server - can connect via remote server but not local machine - why? up vote 1 down vote favorite I am able to login to a remote server and connect to a database on another server http://www.techrepublic.com/forums/discussions/i-get-following-error-message-while-attempting-to-connect-to-a-ms-sql-serve/ from there. When I do the same thing from my local machine it fails, giving me the error below - A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 64) Why does this error happen and how do I fix it ? I am trying to connect via management studio. What I tried so far - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19148863/sql-server-can-connect-via-remote-server-but-not-local-machine-why Error message: (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) It does not work for me. As an aside, I already mentioned what I tried in the first 2 lines of my question. But, it went unnoticed. Those two lines suggest that the problem may be in my local system. But, what could the problem be ? sql-server sql-server-2008 sql-server-2008-r2 share|improve this question edited Oct 3 '13 at 0:47 asked Oct 3 '13 at 0:17 Steam 1,95194083 why vote to close this ? –Steam Oct 3 '13 at 0:27 I didn't vote to close, but it's probably because you've shown no effort to solve this yourself. Did you even Google for a solution? Did you try searching here? Have you researched anything at all in an effort to find any information? I don't see anything that would indicate that you have done so. You haven't even indicated how you're trying to connect - is it from code, from SQL Server Management Studio, or some other way? –Ken White Oct 3 '13 at 0:29 What's the server name you were trying to use? –Szymon Oct 3 '13 at 0:48 @KenWhite - I edited the question. Is it okay now ? –Steam Oct 3 '13 at 0:49 @Szymon - a name like GENSERV.dev –Steam Oct 3 '13 at 0:49 | show 2 more comments 1 Answer 1
is no longer available” while browsing Internet through ISA Server 2006 ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ Yuri Diogenes [MSFT]November 23, 20086 Share 0 0 1. Another error 64? https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/yuridiogenes/2008/11/23/error-64-the-specified-network-name-is-no-longer-available-while-browsing-internet-through-isa-server-2006/ After posting one of the reasons why ISA Server 2006 can come up with the generic error 64 in one of my posts, some readers asked me if this is the ultimate reason for this https://scn.sap.com/thread/3349412 error. The answer is: it is not! Since the error 64 is generic it needs to be carefully interpreted, my previous post about this error mentions the “error 64” with the message: “host not sql server available”. This post will explain in more details why the error message below showed in the ISA Server 2006 Logging could occur while you are browsing Internet. Figure 1 – Another error 64. The error above was caught while the user was trying to browse www.fabrikam.com and download the Windows XP SP2 file. To simulate this problem I used the following lab: Figure 2 – the specified network Lab used to simulate this problem. 2. Understanding the nature of this error The 64: "The specified network name is no longer available" is a win32 error originally called ERROR_NETNAME_DELETED, this error is mapped in the winerror.h as: // // MessageId: ERROR_NETNAME_DELETED // // MessageText: // // The specified network name is no longer available. // In the network level, this problem could be cause by: Network connectivity problems have various causes, but they typically occur because of incorrect network adapters, incorrect switch settings, faulty hardware, or driver issues. Some connectivity symptoms are intermittent and do not clearly point to any one of these causes. Per KB325487. Which means that is more under the TCP/IP level, which is controlled by the Windows OS rather than ISA Server itself. 3. Simulating the Problem To simulate this problem I used a tool called Network Emulator for Windows and added high latency and random packet loss. Besides I also used the Web Application Stress Tool to add more load to my web server and really simulate a situation where server is busy. Now let’s take a look in the netmon trace got from the external interface of the ISA Server: I
