I saw this in a procedure that handled currencies. When we added Japanese Yen, (over 100 yen to the dollar) the currency value (in yen) was too large and generated this error. I think we needed to turn an int column into an bigint to solve our problem. Then the sproc ran OK. The error is totally misleading. What it implies is that there is a bug in your sproc and the

I can run the query fine from within SQL Management Studio and it normally runs fine from PHP as well. However, every once in awhile I get an error message from my PHP script that the query failed and the mssql_get_last_message() function returns 'The statement has been terminated'. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3053669/what-causes-sql-server-to-return-the-message-the-statement-has-been-terminated What sources can cause this message to be returned from SQL Server? php sql sql-server-2000 share|improve this question edited Jul 11 '10 at 5:44 John Saunders 138k20178323 asked Jun 16 '10 at 13:31 Wally Lawless 4,09652545 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 11 down vote accepted You have found one of the most annoying parts of SQL Server. There are situations where an error can be raised, and SQL will generated two error messages: the first to explain what the error was, and the second to say something useful like "The statement has been terminated" (which, technically, is error number 3621). The thing is that SQL, and most everything else that touches it--such as PHP--can only see/pick up/process/or otherwise utilize that last unlcear error message. The one that's actually useful gets lost. The quick way to figure out what's going on is to run the sequence of commands leading up to the error from SSMS. This, apparently, will not work for you. A fussier way to figure it out is to fire up SQL Profiler to track the Exception event, and then run your process. This should show all errors that occured. Tossing in relevant other events (SP:Starting, SP:StmtStarting, SQL:BatchStarting, whatever is applicable to the code

Afterwards a lock on the schema and on the principal are aquired. If we execute the batch locally on the SQL Server then the lock on the schema gets immediately released andif we execute the batch from a remote pcthen a table scan starts on the ScopeMatcherMap (object_id 101575400). RID and Page Locks are aquired and the changes are writen sql server error to the transaction log. Suddenly the scan stops and the the lock on schema_id 5 which belongs to the currently logged on user gets released. In both cases the batch completes with error 2 - Aborted. This behaviour is 100% reproducable but only on2 SQL Server 2008 RTM installations.Onmany other installations this transaction never fails. The attachment FailAndOk contains a profiler trace which documents an abort and a successfull completion of the batch. Additional information: - We modified the batch for test purpose (OPTION MAXDOP(1), Trunc Table, removed tablockx) but the problem persists. - The table contains less than 100 rows and FOREIGN KEY constraints are not violated (not used), Triggers and indexes are not used at all. UserId int not null, SerializedMatcher nvarchar(MAX) NULL - Performance is excellent on both servers.About 600 concurrent connections are handled by the server. - For test purpose we reproduced the problem with a small test application which exectutes only this transaction via ATL CCommand:Open. - The command succeeded when the batch has been executed from sqlcmd or from the Managment Studio. Which surprised us quite a bit. - A schema modificatio

If you add a primary key (probably on the "id" column), your problem should get
