I HAD SQL Server MSDERelA installed (and working), BUT I downloaded SQL Server 2005 Express and tried to install it. This eventually failed (cannot remember exactly why, but I think my machine was not capable of running SQL Server 2005 Express). So I uninstalled SQL Server 2005 Express, but SQL Server MSDE would not run, so I tried to uninstall that but it backed-out near the end saying it could not find the necessary file. So I tried to re-install it from the original download exe file (MSDE2000A.exe) That failed with Fatal Error 1603. I tried again only this time logging the results to file. If you need to see any of this file, let me know and I will post as necessary.
