Rerun the transaction. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5389261/sql-transaction-was-deadlocked Line number: 1 Error Number: 1205 Procedure: Server name: P01 Error Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider Error State: 47 I'm not able to reproduce it. I tried to run several queries from different clients at the same time, but it didn't show up. What is the best way to handle this kind of issue when it happens inside procedure or inside trigger? I mean, how to rerun the transaction? How to do it when exception occurs inside procedure called from the trigger, which was called by the insert made by some procedure (that is: procedure01 -> insert -> trigger -> procedure02 !) sql-server exception stored-procedures triggers share|improve this question asked Mar 22 '11 at 9:41 Piotr Salaciak 9511918 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 21 down vote accepted I would suggest that you come at the problem from two perspectives. Trap or Catch Deadlock Errors so that you can re-run the transaction that is chosen as the Deadlock Victim by the SQL Server database engine.

"Transaction (Process ID 119) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the in sql server deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. (Source: MSSQLServer, Error number: 0)Get help: http://help/0Transaction (Process ID 119) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. (Source: MSSQLServer, Error number: 1205)Get help: http://help/1205"As the data is being replicated fine to server B and C. I am trying to resolve the problem without having to re-initialise the replication as it will cause down time.I have run a dead lock trace but got nothing of value out of it.I have try to Kill the 1st deadlock process in an attempt for the process not to deadlock.I have restarted the the Agent both server A and C, hopping that it will sort itself out.Is there anything that I could use/do to resolve it all without having to re-initialise Post #1114596 Brandon J WilliamsBrandon J Williams Posted Wednesday, May 25, 2011 2:10 PM SSC Rookie Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Tuesday, October 11, 2016 3:23 PM Points: 39, Visits: 908 Hi Elephant,What does sp_who2 reveal? High IO/CPU? Is there contention for the distribution database? If so, I've seen this happen when the distribution database
(Process ID) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction." error let's consider the following example: There is a database "Adventureworks", into which you're going to add two more tables "Table_1" with "Column1" and "Table_2" with "Column1" CREATE TABLE Table_1 (Id int) CREATE TABLE Table_2 (Id int) And fill them with some rows: INSERT INTO Table_1 (Id) SELECT 1 UNION ALL SELECT 2 UNION ALL SELECT 3 GO INSERT INTO Table_2 (Id) SELECT 1 UNION ALL SELECT 2 UNION ALL SELECT 3 After some time past, the row with Id=2 from each table should be deleted. Firstly user deleted this row from the Table_1 with the help of the following syntax: BEGIN TRAN DELETE FROM Table_1 WHERE Id = 2 Then, forgetting that the row in Table_1 has been removed, the user in a new query window in SQL Server Management Studio run the following commands: BEGIN TRAN DELETE FROM Table_2 WHERE Id = 2 DELETE FROM Table_1 WHERE Id = 2 But, suddenly remembered that this row has been removed from Table_1 switched to the previous query window and run BEGIN TRAN DELETE FROM Table_1 WHERE Id = 2 The SQL Server in such case sends the following error message: Msg 1205, Level 13, State 51, Line 26 Transaction (Process ID) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. It means that two transaction runs at the same time and one transaction is blocking another one. Post navigation Database ‘Adventureworks' cannot be opened.
