Windows Could Not Start The Sql Server (mssqlserver) Service On Local Computer
Local Computer… (error code 3417) up vote 4 down vote favorite 2 For some reasons I moved this folder : (Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL) to another drive, then returned it to the same location, but sql server has stopped working, showing this error when trying to start it again: "Windows could not start the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event error code 3417 sql server 2005 Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 3417." I tried many solutions discussed in different forums, but none of them work for me. The folder is not compressed or encrypted. could not be started. I have been getting the error 3417 (SQL Server service terminated with service-specific error windows could not start the sql server on local computer error code 17058 3417…). There was also a reference to the mastlog.ldf file, which is the Master's database log file. The database files usually reside on a folder like "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data". http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17273021/windows-could-not-start-the-sql-server-mssqlserver-on-local-computer-error Therefore I checked that the master.mdf and mastlog.ldf were present. I did a quick search on Google, and not surprisingly, other people had the same problem. One of the suggested solutions did work, and it was easier than expected. All I had to do, was to add on the "Data" folder (mentioned above) security/permission settings, the "NETWORK SERVICE" account. In my case the SQL server service would not start. I copied in the master database from another machine. (The log suggested restoring from a backup). We are running SQL Express on a number of client machines. After - I was able to refresh our database and it was good to go. on December 24, 2008 at 14:54 | Reply Alex For solve this error try-fix mdf,it is free as far as i know and has many possibilities, application repair data from corrupted databases in the MS SQL Server format (files with the *.mdf extension),supports data extraction via the local area network, can save recovered data as SQL scripts, it is also possible to split data into files of any size, compat

How can I provide enough information? –bdkhsn Dec 23 '13 at 10:01 can you check if your SQL Errorlog file has become read only? I just had this 2 weeks ago and still looking for a root cause. C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.n\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG. Btw, this is based on the assumtion that infact your SQL Server was running happily and nobody or nothing has changed anything to the system.
