Server 2008. We run an MRP software that installs SQL Server 2005 Express on the computer that stores the database (the DC in our case). I am trying to get it setup and am having trouble getting it functional for all computers on the network. I set up the database and brought over a snapshot from the old server, so there is good data in the database. Currently, it works on the domain controller connection failed sqlstate 01000 sql server error 67 itself, but when I try to connect from another machine, I cannot set up the ODBC Connection. I get the following error: Connection failed:SQLState: '01000'SQL Server Error: 53[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen(Connect()).Connection failed:SQLState: '08001'SQL Server Error: 17[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Drive][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.I have tried to match the settings in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express to those on the old server machine. I did the same for the SQL Server Configuration Manager.I am not sure what to try from here so I would appreciate any help.ThanksJim Manz russell Pyro-ma-ni-yak USA 5072 Posts Posted-06/21/2011: 11:35:20 Make sure that remote connections are enabled.Make sure firewall isn't blocking.Make sure users attempting to login have permission.Make sure you have the instance name correct in the ODBC connection. jlm159 Starting Member USA 3 Posts Posted-06/21/2011: 14:48:29 How do I make sure that the firewall isn't blocking and that the users have proper permission? I have validated the other two.I followed some directions from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc646023.aspx. This was to allow the SQl server access through the firewall. However, I am still getting the same error. When you refer to the permissions, do you mean domain permissions?Jim Manz russell Pyro-ma-ni-yak USA 5072 Posts Posted-06/21/2011: 15:58:35 Make sure the login exists, I mean, for users attempting to c

Connection failed: SQLState: '08001' SQL Server Error: 17 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied Server: SQL Server 2008 Standard Client: Windows 7 Proffesional Client Software: connection failed sql .NET based Windows Application (Third Party) The Application has its own db and with this db it works fine. There is further the possibility to import data from other db's. If I try to connect to the other db the error appears. The application is connecting with sql server authentication and its own user. I also set db_owner privilegs for this user in the import db. I tried also with the user sa and windows authentication. The Error is allways the same. From the same client I can access without any problems with the management Studio. The SQL server has a named instance and the client is connecting with ftp. I also tried named pipes but this will also fail. 0 Question by:Opusretis Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 26 Active 1 day ago Best Solution byChris Luttrell if the client is connecting with ftp, you may need to verify which port the named instance of SQL is using and that you use it, sometimes multiple instances will cause it to use something other than the Go to Solution 5 Comments LVL 57 Overall: Level 57 MS SQL Server 2008 30 Message Expert Comment by:Raja Jegan R2010-02-10 >> SQL Server does not exist or access denied Kindly check whether the particul
