Timeout expired Rate Topic Display Mode Topic Options Author Message VRTVRT Posted Monday, April 6, timeout expired in sql server 2008 2009 7:45 AM SSC-Enthusiastic Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Sunday, May 8, 2016 9:46 PM Points: 186, Visits: 603 Hi,I have an timeout expired in sql server 2008 r2 access application whose tables linked to SQL Server 2005. Last month also, it worked well. but this month, I have an problem while executing one query. it is showing the below error_ODBC --call failed.[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190181(v=sql.105).aspx expired (#0)I just some analysis and found that there is a problem with the table which has 3000 records. This error is coming when we try to filter the column InvYear =2009. It is working fine for the filter InvYear=2008 and all others. It is only giving the problem for 2009. Why it is giving the above error only for that condition. Last month also this query worked well. Is there any thing I need to http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic691012-131-1.aspx check for the data. Any wrong data like NULLs or empty spaces causes this problem?I am attaching screen shot of the table and error to get an Idea to you. It's very urgent.I analysed the problem and found that the table I mentioned is not the table in SQL Server 2005. It is a VIEW which is having another complex queries. The data is also around 150000 records. But this worked of February month, but not working for March month. I didn't exactly understand what is exactly the problem. Please give any suggession to fix this. I am not well experienced in Databases. But it is very urgent as user is waiting for the report to take? Thank You Post #691942 ~paul hewitt~paul hewitt Posted Wednesday, April 8, 2009 4:08 AM SSC Eights! The connection worked fine a few days ago. This is how sql server I tried to connect (I'm using Microsoft SQL server management studio): connection = pyodbc.connect("DSN=sqlServer; UID=myuser;PWD=mypassword") cursor = connection.cursor() The error I get: ('HYT00', '[HYT00] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Login timeout expired (0) (SQLDriverConnect)') In the ODBC Data Source Administrator, when I test the data source I get: sql-server odbc ssms sql-server-express share|improve this question edited May 6 at 12:05 asked May 6 at 11:53 user5435739 183 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote odbc sql server Because you are having the same issue in the ODBC Data Source Administrator I would try to focus on that first not on your code. Here you can find a list with possible problems Maybe this can help you find out what the problem is. I also would try to connect with the SQL Server Management Studio. Maybe it is possible to connect with a different user or via Windows login. That would mean that your user might not exist anymore (maybe because you renewed tha database or something). Also I sometimes have the problem that the SQL Server is not started either locally or on the server. Maybe you could check if the service is started and the database is running. share|improve this answer answered May 6 at 12:15 Xamm 112 connecting through SQL Server Management Studio is working fine with the username and password in my code. And checked if your application can run with a 64 bit odbc source? –Xamm May 6 at 15:56 I can only say the connection worked before. Padma Hajji_Imran 0 2013-2-1 12:03 PM Just so you know I had the same issue for a customer today. The nav client could not connect to the database (with the database name entered) but it could 'if the IP address was entered'. This led us to beleive that NAV or the PC could not find the server by name, but it could by IP address, thus indicating that it could not resolve the DNS query or locate the DNS database which holds all database names and IP addresses. We then checked the local PC's TCP/IP confiugurations and they had (for this paritcular machine) a custom DNS public IP address whcih means that the PC would jump on to the internet to find its local database name ---- doesn't make sense to me but it was wrong anyway. Changed it to obtain DNS server address automatically meaning it would look at its own network for a DNS server first before looking elsewhere. This resolved the issue in my case.
