Invalid connection string attribute Posted on 2005-07-18 MS SQL Server 2 Verified Solutions 5 Comments 2,667 Views Last Modified: 2008-01-09 Having a time with a smartupload program. Seems there was a permissions problem, had the admins get that going, but now we see the this error when we submit a permissable type of file to data on ole db provider the site. ASP and SQL site generator, it seems. ==================== Error when submitting: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e4d' Invalid connection string attribute /conn.asp, line 4 ====================== conn.asp line 4 is: Conn.open "provider=sqloledb;Server=xx.xxx.xx.x;Driver={SQL Server};UID=uid;PWD=password;Database=database;Network Library=dbmssocn;" ===================== This type of error only shows on the site if we upload a file. There are calendar and other functions that are administratable. I can add entries there, there are no doc, or txt, or jpg files to upload. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thisguy 0 Question by:longfringe Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 11 Best Solution bypcsentinel I hope that the info above is fake or that you have changed the settings!!!!!! also see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306216 not sure but it may help regards Go to Solution 3 Comments LVL 11 Overall: Level 11 MS SQL Server 5 Message Accepted Solution by:pcsentinel2005-07-19 I hope that the info above is fake or that you have changed the settings!!!!!! also see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306216 not sure but it may help regards 0 Message Assisted Solution by:gumball_ch2005-07-20 Hi longfringe Try this connection string: Conn.open "provider=sqloledb;data so

Today has been my first attempt ever at this, and I have spent hours and hours researching to no avail. The best I can do is get a failed login. Here's the connection string (one of many tried): Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=mycompname\sqlexpress;Initial Catalog=theDBName;Integrated Security=SSPI The error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005' Cannot open database "theDBName" requested by the login. The login failed. What I want: Just anything that will connect a database to my ASP Classic page (I normally work in LAMP)! This is not for a live site, so for the time being, that's my only consideration. Just getting it done. :( Any ideas? sql-server-2008 asp-classic share|improve this question edited Dec 10 '12 at 6:48 marc_s 454k938711033 asked Dec 10 '12 at 6:34 Truthy 62 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted You've specified Integrated Security=SSPI, which means that the user owning the process making the connection must be allowed access to the database. That means that the web service must have access. Have you done that? It might be easier if you create a named user, give it a password, and use that in your connection string. share|improve this answer answered Dec 10 '12 at 6:43 webaware 1,8981226 Thank you. I tried that and added "UID=myusername;PWD=mypwd" to the string. The error is now "Login failed for myusername" with code 80040e4d. –Truthy Dec 10 '12 at 6:56 I presume you added 'myusername' to the server and gave them access to that database? Also, do you have a firewall active on the PC, and could it be interfering? –webaware Dec 10 '12 at 7:24 I did what you mentioned, but I will check the firewall now. –Truthy Dec 10 '12 at 7:35 Another thing, to confirm that you can connect to th
