This message can be seen in the screen capture below: The root of this issue stems from the fact that there is a Console update that needs to be installed after upgrading to SiteProtector Core version symantec endpoint 3.0.0.3. If you continue updating your Core to 3.0.0.4 without actually opening the Console while it is at 3.0.0.3, the Console will not update to the required 3.0.0.3 b2 version and the automatic update mechanism will be broken. The Console will continue to function properly while running Core 3.0.0.4, though. The issue will not be apparent until you apply the major Core update 3.1. At this point, you will be faced with the error above upon symantec endpoint protection trying to login to the Console due to the incompatibility of the 3.1 Server Version and the 3.0 Console Version. You can verify the version of the Console by going to Help > About SiteProtector... If you are running Console Version 3.0.0.0 b512 or 3.0.0.2 b4 and your Server Version is at 3.0.0.4 b1 or greater, this article applies to you. Answer To resolve this issue, a reinstall of the SiteProtector Console to version 3.1 is required. Go through the instructions below to do this. Close the SiteProtector Console and go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Double-click the SiteProtector Console entry. A dialog box will ask if you wish to uninstall some or all of the other SiteProtector components. Select No. Note: If you accidentally select Yes, be sure that all options are disabled except for the Console option before proceeding. Selecting to uninstall any other components will cause other components to be uninstalled and may leave the system in an inoperable state.
