Nothing appeared to offer a reason for the failure. I ended up doing the thing I hate the most and that was scheduling a reboot. Once the server came back up the tasks sprang into life. If anybody knows what happened, please let me know. 0x3 means for a scheduled task on Server 2003 I came across this list of error codes. System Error Codes (0-499) Note The information http://kb.openstudioproject.com/content/windows-system-error-codes on this page is intended to be used by programmers so that the https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/210126-windows-server-2008-r2-task-scheduler-and-batches-oh-my software they write can better deal with errors. To obtain support for a Microsoft product, go to http://support.microsoft.com. The System Error Codes task scheduler are very broad. Each one can occur in one of many hundreds of locations in the system. Consequently the descriptions of these codes cannot be very specific. Use of these codes requires some amount of investigation and analysis. You need to note both the programmatic and the run-time context in which these errors occur. Because these codes are defined in winerror.h for anyone to task scheduler error use, sometimes the codes are returned by non-system code. Sometimes the code is returned by a function deep in the stack and far removed from your code that is handling the error. The following table provides a list of system error codes (errors 0 to 499). They are returned by the GetLastError function when many functions fail. To retrieve the description text for the error in your application, use the FormatMessage function with the FORMAT_MESSAGE_FROM_SYSTEM flag. Join Now Has anyone had any issues running batches via task scheduler in R2? The task scheduler states that job runs successfully, but the results expected from the batch never happens. I have found a handful of forums stating R2 has issues with batches. Some have stated that R2 will not execute batches via task scheduler if there are quotations in the code. I have an inkling that it may be a rights issue. I have tried a plethora of combinations with varying results, none of which have been successful. When the batches are executed manually, they deliver the expected results. Thanks ahead of time for any offered suggestions. Some of the biggest things being, on the general tab of the scheduled task, check the box for "Run with highest privileges" and then below that, the drop down should be set to "Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008". On the actions tab, I have the Program/Script: pointing to the full location to the batch including the batch file in quotes, so like, "C:\\Program\\Script\\my_script.bat" Then in the "Add Arguments" I have the exact same path in quotes. Then in the "Start in" path I have the path to the last directory up to the script and NOT in quotes. -Jay 8 Jalapeno OP T-Rav Mar 23, 2012 at 10:26 UTC Security, Security, Security = Server 2008 R2.
