I am a single user. When I have been trying to various things within QB lately (last was try to pay people than process payroll forms) I get a message that pops up that says "The file you specified cannot be opened. Make sure that it is not currently being used by another program or a read-only file. The Windows error was 'the file exists'." This has happened a few times when performing different tasks within QB. When this box pops up I have to hit 'ok' then it immediately pops up again. After 20-30 times hitting ok it goes away. Any idea on what is going on and how I can fix it? Thank you. __________________ John Thompson NY John Thompson View Public Profile Find all posts by John Thompson #2 01-16-2012, 01:28 AM Joe Williams Registered User Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Oklahoma Posts: 9,328 Windows has multiple copies of QBW.EXE running. Use Task Manager and close ALL copies of QuickBooks and then start QuickBooks by right clicking the shortcut then choose Open. You may be getting some extra bounces from the keyboard to start extra copies of it. __________________ Joe Williams joewilliams@wavelinx.net Piedmont, Ok Joe Williams View Public Profile Find all posts by Joe Williams Bookmarks Digg del.icio.us StumbleUpon Google « Previous Thread | Next Thread » Thread Tools Show Printable Version Display Modes Linear Mode Switch to Hybrid Mode Switch to Threaded Mode Rate This Thread Excellent Good Average Bad Terrible Posting Rules You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts BB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is Off HTML code is On Forum Rules Forum Jump User Control Panel Private Messages Subscriptions Who's Online Search Forums Forums Home Welcome and Info New users and visitors start here!
