Either in the criteria or you're trying to put text data into a numeric field for example. __________________ Paul Microsoft Access MVP http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=76432 To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. All fields in my tables are Data Type AutoNumber (where Primary Key), Number (where Foreign Key - related to IDs of corresponding tables) or text (where a name value is input). As far as I can see there is no crossover of types, all numerical types are set to long integer and text boxes to 50 characters. Join them; it only takes a minute: Sign up How do you trouble shoot a “Data type mismatch in criteria expression” error in MS Access type mismatch 2010? [closed] up vote 0 down vote favorite I am trying to troubleshoot a Report in an MS Access Database. This file was build by the person that held my role before I joined the organization I work for. The report is throwing an error "Data type mismatch in criteria expression" This leads me to believe that the data being imported into the DB is not compatible with the data types set type mismatch in in the report's query. There are 53 pieces in the SQL SELECT Statement. Is there a good way to trouble shoot the statement (in Access) to find which piece is causing the error? I'm just getting back into using Access so I'm a little rusty. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Posted on 2014-04-22 MS Access MS Development-Other Visual Basic Classic 1 Verified Solution 11 Comments 2,784 Views Last Modified: 2014-04-23 I have a listbox on a form, I want to use the number in field 4 to open another form and open the record that has that unique number. The number in Field 4 is an AutoNumber - Long Integer. It is simple a unique serial number for each record so I can keep them all unique. My goal is to dblClick a line in the list box and then have that record open in the form that allows me to fully manage the record. I get an Error 13 Type Mismatch on this line stLinkCriteria = "[Service_Tag_No] = " '" & [List78] Select all Open in new window All MsgBoxes provide the correct info The RowSource in List78 is a SQL statement with Binding on Column 4 Here is my failing code: Private Sub List78_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) Dim stDocName As String Dim stLinkCriteria As Integer stDocName = "Call_Ticket" MsgBox "We have arrived" MsgBox stDocName MsgBox Me![List78] MsgBox [List78] stLinkCriteria = "[Service_Tag_No] = " '" & [List78] DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, , , stLinkCriteria End Sub Select all Open in new window I think the problem is that I am not referencing the field on the next form properly. As I understand stLinkCriteria, it should open the record where Field = Data. The field on the next form is a text box and it is called Service_Tag_No Its ControlSource is Service_Tag_Number_Auto Thanks for any help you can provide. 0 Question by:jasgot Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 44 Active today Best Solution byaikimark I missed this earlier.
