After messing around with my mac and the iPod, using disk utility and various other tools for days, i had almost given up when i decided to try something else. I have parallels on my mac, which enables you to run Windows XP, downloaded itunes for XP and restored it with that itunes running on XP. Hey presto it worked!!!!I guess macs are not great for everything!!!!!I expect you could do the same by useing another windows based computer (yuck) from a friend or family member!Good Luck!!!
