It always gives the same restore error in iTunes : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3764139?start=0 "The iPhone [iPhone] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred [error 50]." Anyone got a idea how to get the iPhone to work? I've tried 2 different computers with firewall off, different USB ports, different cables but keep getting this error at around 65% of the restore process. I've tried restoring in the DFU mode too, still the same error pops up. I read somewhere it might be the Baseband IC which needs to be replaced. Would replacing the Qualcomm MDM9615M help? Anyone who https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/273755/iPhone+5S+Stuck+in+recovery+mode+%3A+iTunes+restore+error+50 has had the same issue or knows about it? Kinldy help me out of this. NONE of the help on this forum helped so what i did was this. I held down the Home Button and Power Button for 10 seconds whilst the phone was connected to my Mac. I then let go of the Home button BUT I KEPT HOLDING THE POWER BUTTON during the whole of the sync process and hey presto it worked. Yes i had a sore finger by the end but it has been 2 weeks and my phone has been in 3 shops who couldn't fix it INCLUDING the Glasgow Apple shop. Hopefully this will work for you guys as well. When backing up to my computer by pushing "Back Up Now" in iTunes, I get an error message: The iPhone 'X' cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-50) The last backup time does change, unknown error occurred and it isn't saying that the backup failed, but it is odd that I get that error every time. I am telling it to not backup any of the apps, because I don't want all that dead space on my laptop. The error seems to happen after the backup and when the sync process changes to "Transferring purchases from X" I searched around and wasn't able to find a satisfying definition of error -50 does anyone know what it is? iphone itunes backup data-synchronization ios-8 share|improve this question edited Oct 30 '14 at 20:54 asked Oct 3 '14 at 14:23 dwightk 2,60051941 Are you intending to Sync or backup with iTunes? Or both? the error message regards syncing, backup is something else. –Tyson Oct 3 '14 at 14:53 I'm pushing the backup now button. I guess iTunes wraps that in a sync. –dwightk Oct 3 '14 at 15:21 1 I have a similar problem when trying to write to a USB connected Seagate Backup Plus 3TB. The drive works fine after rebooting the system but after a day or two it won't let me create or save documents to the drive. Considering this occurs to you at the point where iTunes begins transferring purchases, I wonder if it's trying to write files to a drive behaving like my drive. While
