This is strange because it worked before but stopped working though no changes had been made. It would be grate if someone could find the solution for this. Robert, Feb 27, 2004 #4 Robert Guest Found the solution. What did it for me was to restart the Microsoft Firewall

The command C:\ftp ftp.server.xxx gives the following https://winscp.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1676 message: "unknown error". When trying to connect with IE6 to a FTP server, nothing happens, and after several seconds a window pops-up: "the page cannot be displayed". Using a download manager is of no help, as the FTP server is unaccessible. I can connect to any HTPP server, no problem at all. Please, advise, Thank you, Juan More about : unable unknown error connect ftp servers galen 21 July 2005 06:11:16 Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.general (More info?) Please read before posting! [Reply with quote] I am getting this right after the initial install of WINSCP. I am trying to logon for the first time. When logging on for the first after installing, I was prompted by Norton Internet Security to allow access to the internet by the WINSPC program, I did not give access. I subsequently got the error message below. I have since tried to uninstall the WINSCP software, rebooted my machine, disabled Norton, reinstall the software and receieved the same error message. . -------------------------------------------------------------------------- .
