When i try to save i get a message "An unknown error has occurred", when i close http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1245521 that box i get another message "Can't finish previewing. There isn't enough memory. ID = -108" , when i close that box i get the windows message "adobe illustrator has encountered a problem and needs to close....etc". I can't save in ai, pdf or eps or various options such as saving as ai with pdf option turned off etc. I've seen similar postings on various forums - solutions such as delete you illustrator cs2 settings folder or delete various preset files within that folder. I've tried reinstalling - nothing works. My computer is brand new and hardly anything on it and i have the same version of illustrator on another machine and the same operating system Windows xp pro (service pack 2) and alls fine with that computer. I've tried copying my illustrator cs2 settings folder from the good computer and pasting it in place on my 'bad' computer - again doesn't work. I'm about to format my computer and start again but i have a bad feeling that this wont cure it either... Any help / feedback would be much appreciated as i have completely run out of options other than to format and start again. -Thanks RE: illustrator cs2 won't save - "An unknown error has occurred" lwatkins (TechnicalUser) 25 Jul 06 11:10 We were having the same problems and we changed the "Plug-ins and Scratch

Tips & Tutorials This error affects users of Adobe Illustrator CS2, CS3, and possibly other versions. I can find no mention of the problem occuring for Illustrator CS4 users so it may very well have been fixed in the newest version. This article will provide explanations and troubleshooting for the question "Why do I get the error message "An unknown error has occured" when trying to save in Illustrator?" This error message appears when you attempt to save your work as the native .ai file type (and in some situations also as other file types). After choosing your file name, then confirming your final save options, you receive the below error message and your work is not saved. "An unknown error has occured." Now for the causes and solutions and fixes: In my case, this problem was a result of the Microsoft Zune Mp3 player software being installed. The problem does not appear before the Zune software is installed and does not appear after it is uninstalled. To fix this problem, you will need to uninstall the Zune software or upgrade to Illustrator CS4. Unfortunately this is the only solution. Other fixes: Uncheck ".pdf compatible saving" Hide all layers before saving Save as an alternate file format other than .ai -- try .eps or .swg Please see my other article, also covering this subject (more focused on the Zune and Illustrator software conflict) here: Zune Software (2.5 to 3.x) conflicting with Adobe Illustrator CS2 and CS3 Tagged as: conflic, cs2, cs3, cs4, error, fix, how to, illustrator, message, save, saving, software, troubleshoot, zune 5 Comments Brice M June 15, 2010 • 9:22 am I got the same error while saving, even using CS4 and without any other software running!
