connect to our server. Usually, this is down to a local configuration problem, either the VPN is setup incorrectly, or something is blocking the connection (usually your security software, firewall or http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/vpn-error-868-the-name-of-the-remote-access-server/649fb5d3-674e-447b-9dca-13e7e09b95fc router). Firstly, to ensure you are trying to connect to the correct server, please re-enter the server name in the VPN settings, the correct server names for each country are the three letter (ISO/UN) country code followed by .mypn.co, so for the United Kingdom, one would enter gbr.mypn.co If this still fails, we have an alternative VPN technology that uses the SSL https://help.my-private-network.co.uk/support/solutions/articles/8469-error-868 protocol, and this usually performs better in circumstances where users are having difficulty using our standard VPN. Full instructions for setting up your connection via SSL can be found on the following links: Windows XP Windows Vista Windows 7 Windows 8 Please give that a try and if you have any further problems, get in touch by sending us an email to support@my-private-network.co.uk and we will do our best to assist you. Join Now I've got a client that is using VPN for several remote users. 2 days ago, the VPN no longer works and returns errors when connecting. No server side changes were made, and setting a new VPN connection returns error 868 - Port Opened. Error 868: the remote connection was not made because the name of the remote access server did not resolve. I'm using an IP to VPN to, so it shouldn't be trying to resolve a name. Confirmed the port is opened (1723). running server 2012, all components are installed server side (as this has worked for months) so I'm banging my head trying to figure out why this broke all of a sudden. Though all of our clients have 'business' lines, Cox and Century-link sometimes, 'for maintenance' reasons assign clients new static IP addresses. Huge pain int he butt, especially for customers who have complex systems that are sper reliant on the static IPs.... 0 Anaheim OP Farfy Apr 30, 2015 at 11:55 UTC I havn't checked the ISP, but the WAN connection IP is the same I should mention this is not on a domain, so no RADIUS, small business and their router is a off the shelf Netgear if that helps at all 0 Datil OP M Boyle May 1, 2015 at 9:00 UTC Check the settings on the netgear anyway. The security of those things is terrible so it's entirely possible it got hacked and had things changed. 0 This discussion has been inactive for over a year.
