If disabling Norton Anti Spam works to resolve this issue, I'd leave it disabled. I've never used it and in any case, all it does is move your spam into a different folder ! This error has been around for ages, with seemingly no definitive fix. Plenty of suggestions on reinstalling your mail client, but that doesn't always work either. Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit NSBU 22.8.0.50 IE 11 dforrest Regular Contributor5 Reg: 24-Mar-2009 Posts: 370 Solutions: 1 Kudos: 24 K

One reason for getting this error code in Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail when receiving mail, with both POP and IMAP incoming server type, is an incorrect port windows live number. If you have enabled encryption for the incoming mail server but you have changed the port number to the non-encryption one (110 for POP, 143 for IMAP), you'll get the error number 0x800CCC0F. So make sure that if you have enabled encryption the port numbers are correct: 995 for POP, 993 for IMAP. In case the port number is incorrect the error message in Outlook Express will look like this: our server windows live mail has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'servername.com', Server: 'servername.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F As you can notice in the error message, SSL is enabled but the wrong port number is used. The error message in Windows Live Mail is almost the same. Another “all time favorite” reason for getting this error number is your antivirus software or firewall. Disable your antivirus application, or even uninstall it, to make sure it's not causing this problem. If you need more information on configuring Outlook Express or Windows Live Mail to use your email account read the respective tutorial. Add to Favourites Print this Article Was this answer helpful? Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'Timesheet for week of 12/7/08', Account: 'Darryl & Susan Joint Account', Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0FI started T/S the issue. To this point I have done just about everything I have found, short of reformatting the HDD. I have disabled the firewall, then uninstalled. Disabled then uninstalled AVG. Stopped all background programs but for absolute essentials. Looked for and deleted idx and mdx mail files. Tried another network. Deleted and recreated accounts. Checked settings and passwords. Switched user accounts. Went online and cleared out the inbox and outbox of all three accounts. Upgraded and installed from Windows mail to Windows Line Mail. All of this and still the error. The issue is local to this laptop. I created the account on another PC on my network and it did fine on sending and receiving. Also, as mentioned, the online web interfaces for all three accounts do just fine.Hope someone has the fix and thanks to all!droberts1019 Share Flag This conversation is currently closed to new comments. 3 total posts (Page 1 of 1) + Follow this Discussion · | Thread display: Collapse
