your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now After housecleaning my WSUS server I'm feeling pretty good. Hoping this is an unrelated note, but upon wandering to the Windows Update on my own Win 7 WSUS wsus error code 80244019 client machine I am receiving error "Code 80072EE6 Windows Update encountered an uknown error." Some more set the intranet update service for detecting updates poking around and my computer is not even listed on WSUS. Is this part of the error I am receiving? My manager's computer wsus url is on WSUS, but has not reported for 240+ days and is receiving the same error. I did find this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2724184 and double checked GP, but that all looks good. Ideas? Typically this occurs because: A UNC hostname is used instead of a WEB URL. The WEB URL is built with backslashes instead of forward https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/316708-fix-for-error-code-80072ee6-wsus-client slashes. A trailing slash is placed on the URL causing a double slash to be inserted in the download pathnames for files. Inspect the WSUS Server log entry in WindowsUpdate.log, or the WUServer registry value in HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate 1 Jalapeno OP KIng7875 Mar 25, 2013 at 5:03 UTC Not sure what I am looking for in the log, but everything seems to be running without throwing any noticeble errors. The registry shows http://xxx:###. Something interesting with the manager's computer is it has the computer name, but then the IP address is not correct. How is WSUS getting the IP addresses of the computers that are reporting in. I think this may be the glitch. We have one computer that is currently set up to never receive updates (scripting machine only) and I'm wondering if however the computers report in was turned off to keep this computer from getting udpated. 0 Cayenne OP Lawrence (SolarWinds) Apr 5, 2013 at 6:05 UTC The client reports it's IP Address to the WSUS server. But if it's a DHCP client and hasn't reported in and the DHCP lease expired, or the machine was off the network for a while and came back on the network, got a new lease, but can't update WSUS, then the WSUS server will display the most recent address reported --
