Error 651
Windows Installer error code 641 I am having a frustrating problem with Windows Vista installer. It's error code 641. I have two pc's in my house with Vista, so I've got twice the problems. I can run some updates, but others I can't, including one for Silverlight. Also, I can't update iTunes, it bombs out. Please, if anyone knows how to fix this, let us all know. BTW, I https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/cf64806d-9d5e-45c5-88ea-0a26ca58f592/windows-update-failed-with-code-80070641-code-641-code-80070005?forum=w7itproinstall purchased a reg fix program for $29.00 that led me to believe it would fix error code 641, but it didn't. Boy, I got better things to do on a Saturday morning than mess around with this. I'm not very technical, so I get a little nervous messing with registry, etc. SOS! HELP! I have also received errors 0X80070641 (Windows Installer Service could not be accessed), 0X80070057, and 0X80240009 (Installer encountered error) during my troubleshooting efforts. Also, Adobe Reader updates have failed (error 1601), Adobe Flash Player updates have failed (error 1601), Western Digital updates have failed and HP printer updates have failed. The MrFixit troubleshooting indicated it could not access Windows Installer Service. I have verified WIS is installed and running. I have also run the most recent version of AdwareCleaner, and scanned with MBAM Pro. Also ran Scannow and SURT. I am guessing I have some corrupted or missing files in the WIS. CBS file is attached.
