500 Error Internal Qmailadmin Server
Date: Tue, 20 Sep 2005 06:12:25 -0700 Fedora Users I've been having trouble with qmailadmin, and the qmail mailing list has not been very active. I'm hoping some of you may have some answers for me. The install for Qmail is clean. I ran an install check on it, and everything seems to be working fine. Vpop is also working, as well as sqwebmail, and vqadmin. These programs are all functioning just fine. The configuration for qmailadmin and it's installation seem to go smooth, but when I type http://www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/qmailadmin/ into the browser i get a 500 internal server error: " Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, admin localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. " the httpd error logs are not registering anything. I thought it might be a CGI problem at first, but I think I fixed that by placing the following information into httpd.conf: " ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "/var/www/cgi-bin/" AddHandler cgi-script .cgi

A while ago I ran into a very similar problem that was related to using qmailadmin from a box running a particular version of Internet Exploder. It would generate Internal Server Errors when trying to add POP users. If you are using IE, try Netscape as a test. Sean -- Put out fires during the daytime. Do y

It’s a catch-all error message that can literally mean anything. Sometimes, your WordPress site gives no error at all and just shows a blank page. How on earth are you supposed to figure out what’s wrong? It happens to the best of us, but no need to panic. Here’s my own debug process, in order of likelihood and with solutions. Plugins If you’ve just installed a new plugin or if your site is showing 500 errors after a core WordPress upgrade, the most likely cause is an incompatible plugin. There are many reasons for a plugin being “broken”: WordPress may have removed some core functions the plugin uses. The plugin may have been coded for an old version of PHP, and not been updated. It could just be coded incorrectly, by referring to default dat
Tips & Tricks | 24 comments The 500 internal server error runs on every page of your site when there’s a problem with the server or file system that’s powering your site. The cause most likely occurs in the root directory, where your WordPress files are, but it can also be caused by a problem on your host’s server. This is one of the most frustrating errors that can occur in WordPress. It never has a straightforward solution, requiring a lot of troubleshooting that can eat up your time and patience. But we’re going to try to help alleviate some of that stress by suggesting several solutions to this problem and walking you through each. Let’s get started. Backing Up Your Site These solutions require making a lot of changes in your site’s root directory. It’s highly recommended you backup your site prior to trying any of these solutions in case something goes wrong. Using an FTP Client If you already have experience using an FTP client, skip this section. I’m going to go over how to set up an FTP client for those who have never used one as most of these solutions require it. An FTP client allows you to access and edit your site’s files. You can use the File Manager your host uses, of course, but an FTP client of your choosing is often easier to use. There are many FTP clients, but we’re going to use FileZilla for the purpose of this demonstration. Go to FileZilla’s homepage, and click Download FileZilla Client. Click the green Download FileZilla Client button if the site is recommending your exact operating system. If it’s not, click the Show Additional Download Options link beneath the green button and download the version that’s appropriate for your operating system. Open the client once you’ve downloaded the installer and have installed it on your system. Click File > Site Manager. Click New Site, and enter your site’s name. Configure these settings: Host - Your domain name Port - Leave blank Protocol - FTP - File Transfer Protocol Encryption - Only Use Plain FTP Logon Type - Normal Use the username and password you use to access your host’s file manager. If your host uses cPanel, use the login information you use to access cPanel. If you’re not s
