on as administrator. Nonetheless I still get " ... file is not accessible. Access denied" on some folders, typically a shortcut leading to another folder. Since this will always be my computer, how can I regain complete access to everything. I want to delete some stuff no longer useful to me, a private individual. Thanks for any help. To become full admin on Vista go to Control Panel - User Accounts and uncheck the box called User Account Control on /off and restart your computer. This will give you full admin. Windows 7 has is the same way, but you will need to slide the bar down. Sniffles. Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top Topic Closed This topic has been closed to new replies. "access denied" in Vista's CommandPrompt The Vista security feature that's most effective -- and the most annoying -- will sometimes prevent the Run and command line tools from doing what you tell them to do. This is (usually) due to the https://techpaul.wordpress.com/2007/09/14/quick-tipovercome-access-denied-in-vistas-command-prompt/ fact that you haven't told it you're an Administrator. Note: this technique can be applied to http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/203795en other programs as well. I overcome this annoyance by creating a desktop shortcut and setting its Properties to "Run as an Administrator". Go to Start >Programs and open the Accessories folder. Right-click on, and holding down the right-click, use the cursor to drag the black Command Prompt icon to a vacant area on your descktop. Let go and select (click) "Create access denied shortcut here" from the list of choices. Now you will have a new, black Command Prompt icon. Right-click on your new icon, and select Properties and click on the Shortcut tab. Now click on the "Advanced" button toward the bottom Place a check in the "Run as Administrator" checkbox, and click the "OK" button twice. That's it! Now you will be able to accomplish the advanced commands as you expect you should. Copyright 2007 © Tech Paul, All access denied windows Rights Reserved. Share this post :

However, you should be able to get a command prompt by typing "cmd" (no quotes) in the Run dialogue. Run is also found in Accessories, and can also be showing in your Start menu.. depending on how your Properties are set. I even checked the run as administrator option.INTERNAL / SPECIALIZED ▾ ▴ BarraCuda ▹ FireCuda ▹ IronWolf ▹ SkyHawk ▹ ENTERPRISE / DATACENTER ▾ ▴ HDD ▹ SSD ▹ Systems ▹ Partners ▾ ▴ Partner Portals ▹ ◃ Partner Portals Partner Login Direct Customers and Suppliers Flash Ecosystem ▹ ◃ Flash Ecosystem Flash Partners Support ▾ ▴ By Product ▹ ◃ By Product Business NAS Consumer NAS Desktop External Enterprise Servers & Storage Game Drive Internal Media Players & DVRs Portable External Software & Apps SSD & PCIe Flash Wireless By Service ▹ ◃ By Service Data Recovery Services By Topic ▹ ◃ By Topic Check my Warranty Warranty & Replacements Downloads Seagate Store Surveillance Center Vulnerability Status Ask the Community ▹ ◃ Ask the Community Facebook Twitter YouTube Store ▾ ▴ Store Backup Protect Your Digital Life.
