virtual machine (as recommended by guide above, following musicbrainz instructions). As the console is run by a vnc wiever app for java, it was blocked by recent enhanced security criteria by java. I tried adding the jail musicbrainz ip (192.168.1.9 in permission java.net.socketpermission connect resolve my case, as well as 192.168.1.9:3389) to the java console exception list to no avail. ***************************************** Error: access denied ("java.net.SocketPermission" "192.168.1.9:3389" "connect, resolve") java.security.AccessControlException: access denied ("java.net.SocketPermission" "192.168.1.9:3389" "connect, resolve") at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.SecurityManagerHelper.checkConnectHelper(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.AWTAppletSecurityManager.checkConnect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.

Scenario: I have an applet, that when clicked it sends an http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13793578/java-security-accesscontrolexception-access-denied-java-net-socketpermission email message. Send the mail works perfectly on Netbeans AppletViewer, but it turns into hell when added to the browser and trying to send the email from there. I have read for hours, about policy files, signed/unsigned applets...etc. I have tried using the signed applet (plenty of tutorials out there for signing it, was quite simple using the keytools from java). When I run it on the browser it asks for permission because it´s a self-signed certificate, I give it permission , but it still spits out the same exception. I have also tried modifying java.poilcy file adding permission java.net.SocketPermission "smtp.gmail.com:587", "listen, resolve"; But nothing. I know it´s that exception because I activaded the Java Console in the Java Control Panel. I really don´t know what else to do. Here is the code that sends the email: String host = "smtp.gmail.com"; String from = *****; String pass = ******; Properties props = new Properties(); props.put("mail.smtp.starttls.enable", "true"); props.put("mail.smtp.host", host); props.put("mail.smtp.user", from); props.put("mail.smtp.password

Could not find resolution on community board.Detailed problem: It was for accessing old 1st Generation servers. Would get "Network Error: access denied ("java.net.SocketPermission" "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8676" "connect, resolve") where the specific console URL console1-hNNN.cloud-console.com resolves to the IP address in the error. This error access denied was encountered once the "https://console URL" was added to the java console's exception list.Resolution: I found the resolution to be in this IBM link apparently for their Topoviz Java Client: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21616363In the event that link goes stale the resolution is to find the java.policy file in the JAVA_HOME\lib\security directory, access the file with a text editor and access denied java add the following at the bottom of the existing 'grant' section 'permission java.net.SocketPermission "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:port", "connect, accept";'. Then shut down browser, and restart it. Access to 1st Gen console should now work. cloud control panel cloud servers Cloud Help cloud server Reply You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. Racker JakeC Posted on Aug 14, 2015 12:20 PM For OSX users, you will need to edit the following file: /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/lib/security/java.policy Add to the botton of the java.policy file 'grant' section 'permission java.net.SocketPermission "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:port", "connect, accept";' Replace the IP and Port with the ones displayed in the console error, restart the browser to make sure the changes are put into effect.
