On-Access Scanner Service MitchR Apr 10, 2009 3:01 PM (in response to tao) Seeing the same thing here. It's on 64-bit Windows 2003 Standard SP2.On a login after a reboot, I immediately see a crash report titled "On-Access Scanner Service". Details:szAppName: McShield.exeszAppVer: 13.3.2.116szModName: ntdll.dllszModVer: 5.2.3790.3959offset: 0000000003bbfbThere are no event logs relating to this crash.Attempting to reinstall or repair the application shows no errors, however McAfee crashes immediately with no error messages or event logs. The "McAfee McShield" service stops when it crashes. Restarting this service does nothing- McAfee VirusScan remains in a crashed state.I have tried uninstalling McAfee & the EPO, deleting all McAfee files in C:\Program Files, rebooting, and reinstalling. Same error. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. RE: On-Access Scanner Service shadowman12 Apr 10, 2009 3:18 PM (in response to MitchR) Have you already run McAfee Virussca

RE: Application Error with McShield.exe Guest (visitor) 17 Aug 01 11:58 I am having the same problem with W2K Pro. Is this a known issue? Only have seen NT4 mentioned in all articles I have read concerning the mcShield.exe error. RE: Application Error with McShield.exe ihworthi (TechnicalUser) 17 Aug 01 12:15 I have been to the McAfee website, but their no "upgraded" web presence has NO search app what-so-ever! I have sent mail to their supposed tech support, but have not heard anything back. I have search the web for info on this exe crash, but all I have found is other people with the same event occuring on their box, and no solutions. RE: Application Error with McShield.e

Solved: Access Denied error when trying to start BITS & Automatic Update Service Discussion in 'Windows XP' started by DancinHomer, May 5, 2009. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement DancinHomer Thread Starter Joined: May 5, 2009 Messages: 42 I have been trying to resolve this issue since Friday with no great progress. The main issue is that a program on the laptop needs the Background Intelligent Transfer Service set to Automatic start, however when you try to change this setting, I get an Access Denied error (Error 5), I also get a similar access denied error when trying to manually start the service. I have done the following 'general fixes' with no success; chkdsk /r, sfc /scannow, windows update repair tool and windows repair. Other things I've tried: Setting permissions in the registry for the BITS entries to give full access using the user's account. Setting a password on the Administrator account. Repairing BITS using guide on another forum. Start the service from Administrator account (in safe-mode) and new Temp account (with admin rights). Precautionary virus & spyware scan as I've read that Vundo virus can cause problems like this, albeit not found. Other information that may help: I get the same error on the Automatic Updates service. I noticed corruption on the Path to Executable:, where instead of reading %SystemRoot% it read %fystemRoot%, although I fixed these entries in Regedit. When going into Safe-Mode it logs straight in to the user created account instead of normally asking at logon screen which account to login with (Administrator account not in list, but does exist) Similar to above when I created the Temp account, it logged straight in to the main user account (in both normal & safe-mode) without giving me the option (I can log in by choosing Log Out, once logged in) When enabling/disabling an entry in msconfig I get the message about not having permissions
