inMOSS Posted on November 2, 2007 by clintoncherry Had an interesting problem when users in SharePoint were going to create a new page sharepoint 2013 access denied for all users in a page library they kept getting an access denied message sharepoint 2013 full control access denied on the ‘CreatePage.aspx' page. The option to create a page was appearing in their ‘Site Actions' menu, so sharepoint 2013 access denied user has permissions this didn't appear to be a security problem (or this would have been security trimmed), and after inspecting the group permissions which had full control, and the permissions for https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/eccd720a-9988-40ce-825d-cddfa4ab7c9d/access-denied-error-in-moss-2007?forum=sharepointgenerallegacy the group, which allowed the group ‘create page' permissions - I was completely baffled as they still could not create a new page. After some searching around, I discovered this was in fact a ‘feature' of MOSS (which hopefully gets fixed in the next service pack). What needs to happen is that the user or group needs to https://clintoncherry.wordpress.com/2007/11/02/fixing-error-access-denied-error-on-creating-a-new-page-in-moss/ also have ‘read' permissions to the master page gallery. Once you have done this, everything works (although it does mean that your users also have read permissions to the master page gallery, which I wasn't overly wrapped about). I am guessing the reason for this is that this is where the page templates are located, and to create a new page you need to use a page template, and as such need read access to it. To apply this ‘fix' you will need to do the following: Go to Site Actions -> Site Settings ->Modify all site settings Go to Galleries -> Master pages and page layouts From the list toolbar, select Settings -> Document library settings Select permissions for this document library Add ‘Restricted Read' access to the required groups. Once this is done, your users will no longer get the access denied error . Like this:Like Loading... Related This entry was posted in SharePoint. Have them carefully checked. Master page or the Page Layout used by the home page are being checked out by Site Collection Admin or is lying in "pending" approval state. Any custom solution that might be added in the landing page can cause access issues. Verify closely the uls logs for this.
