was truly enjoying the Windows 8.1 with the "Windows Re-imagined" concept. But yesterday when I went to check the Security windows 10 services access denied Center, I came to know that the Windows Firewall service wasn't running on my system. So I headed to the Local Services window by pressing running services.msc command. Here I found that

only a few services were running. I tried to start the leftover services, but I wasn't able to do so. I received the Access Is Denied error. This is the screenshot with one such service: Due to this Access is denied error, I couldn't start most of the local services and this messed up my system with warning and alerts. Initially, to fix it out, I did run services.msc access denied the SFC /SCANNOW command to fix out any corrupted files associated with these services, but it didn't made any differences in the situation. Then eventually, I came around this solution which helped me to resolve the issue significantly: Windows could not start Service. Access Is Denied 1. Press Windows Key + R combination, type Regedt32.exe in the Run dialog box and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor. Advertisement ^ 2. Navigate to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wcncsvc 3. In the left pane of this location, right click over the wcncsvc key and select Permissions. In the Permissions window, highlight the entry Administrators. 4. Make sure you have the Full control option checked as far as Permissions is concerned. Ensure same with Users entry as well. Click Apply followed by OK when down in both cases. Finally, close the Registry Editor and reboot the system. You should now be able to start local services without any hitch. This should help solve the problem. Error 5 Access Is Denied Windows 7 Fix
to gpedit.msc Problem Steps to Fix Access Denied to gpedit.msc Problem Posted on October 24, 2008 by error 5 access denied windows 10 Rajat Gupta — 64 Comments ↓ My PC was working all fine until I figured out that Group Policy gpedit.msc was not opening on my system. I wanted to http://www.thewindowsclub.com/access-is-denied-local-services-windows-8-1 open the Group Policy editor for some work and I was shocked to find that not only the gpedit.msc, even the other commands with msc extensions, were not working like services.msc, devmgmt.msc, compmgmt.msc etc. Then I tried opening the editor by double clicking the gpedit.msc inside the system32 folder and I got the same error “Access is Denied”. http://techsalsa.com/steps-to-fix-access-denied-to-gpeditmsc-problem/ What was strange was that I was accessing the editor from my Administrator account only. I tried following things: • The first suspect is, of course, Virus, thus I scanned my whole system with the updated Anti Virus but it didn’t find any. • Then I scanned it with Windows Defender but it also didn’t find any malicious software. • I rebooted the system and entered in the Safe Mode but the commands were not working in that either. Solution: Then I finally decided to run System Restore and restored the system to some safe state I created when the PC was working all fine (good practice to create a checkpoint when the system is fine, isn’t it). I was relieved when this solved my problem. Note: Try to Restore the system to a restore point created long ago. UPDATE 1 since the problems vary for different users, installing Microsoft Management Console 3.0 for Windows XP again (as suggested by one of our viewers) may also work for you. Download MMC UPDATE

The first problem is that i do NOT have a windows disk on me, im on vacation and internet is my only resource. Second, After a long bout with 100's of virus's i believe my pc is now clean, but my RPC is not able to start. If i bring up Services.msc it will come error 5 access up as normal but if i try to activate anything it says "Error 5: access denied". Ive done some research and came up with a few unsuccessful solutions. First was editing it through regedit and trying to turn it on in the registry, also tried associating it with my hardware profile in the registry as well, following microsofts instructions (sorry cant post link) and instructions left by others with my problem online. All are unsuccessful. Ive read something about altering my policies through gpedit.msc or secpol.msc though i have very limited experience with policies and modifying them. I have attempted to reload the default policies but to no avail. Since my RPC is not on, everything on my pc is limited to performing less than safemode. Ive searched everything everywhere using every search engine, and no help... Please someone help me. Sorry for the massive wall of text. [Problem 1] RPC not running [Problem 2] Cannot modify Services in services.msc [Problem 3] Cannot boot into safemode normally ~Technophobic Oct 9, 2009 #1 Tmagic650 TS Ambassador Posts: 17,233 +234 "Second, After a long bout with 100's of virus's i believe my pc is now clean"...
