The object always posts back to the same domain. I don't quite know why it works http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3086214/access-denied-error-with-msxml2-serverxmlhttp sometimes and why it fails other times. This is Classic ASP - VBScript set xmlhttp = CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") xmlhttp.open "POST", "http://xxxx.com/GetCacheValue.aspx", false xmlhttp.send "" strCaptchaText = xmlhttp.responseText set xmlhttp = nothing vbscript asp-classic serverxmlhttp share|improve this question edited Nov 19 '11 at 5:14 casperOne 58.2k10127202 asked Jun 21 '10 at 15:57 Dawson Goodell 127215 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote accepted Here's something I snipped from a Google search result: Security tightened when posting data using the ServerXmlHttp object Security in the implementation of the MSXML 4.0 SP2 ServerXmlHttp object has been enhanced to check the Internet Explorer security policy setting for submitting non-encrypted form data. A security policy setting of "Disable" or "Prompt" for the "Submit nonencrypted form data" option will result in an "Access Denied" error message when attempting to post form data using the ServerXmlHttp object. This is a change that can potentially break existing code that uses earlier versions of the S

Join them; it only takes a minute: Sign up Xmlhttp request is raising an Access Denied error up vote 2 down vote favorite 1 access denied The following Excel macro, which is making an xmlhttp request to this webpage to retrieve some values at a second stage, has worked normally in VBA until some time ago: Sub WebReq() Link = "http://it.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=^FCHI&ql=10" & str(rnd()) Set htm = CreateObject("htmlFile") Set RequestWeb = CreateObject("msxml2.xmlhttp") With RequestWeb .Open "GET", "" & Link & "", False .send htm.body.innerhtml = .responsetext End With End Sub Now, instead, at the call of the method: access is denied .send of the object msxml2.xmlhttp is raising the following error: Run-time error '-2147024891 (80070005)' Access is denied. I've been looking on the web but all the similar threads are never answered. Can anyone explain me what this error means, and if there's any way I could fix it or even just work around it? Note: the random string at the end of the variable 'Link' has been added to force the page reloading, since the script is retrieving real-time values and so it should be loaded every time. Additional information: while looking for a solution, I'm noticing now that the random part of the link is yielding always the same value even when I end the running and restart again: Link = http://it.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=^FCHI&ql=10 .7055475 Why is this happening? Shouldn't rnd() yield a new random value between 0 and 1 at every call? vba xmlhttprequest share|improve this question edited Apr 8 '14 at 13:25 asked Apr 8 '14 at 13:14 Matteo NNZ 4,25321536 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote Use CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.6.0") The standard request fired from a local machine forbids access to sites that aren't trusted by IE. This is the Server side object that doesn't perform those checks. share|improve this answer answered
read on… According to this Microsoft article, Security in the implementation of the MSXML 4.0 SP2 ServerXmlHttp object has been enhanced to check the Internet Explorer security policy setting for submitting non-encrypted form data. Follow these steps to configure IE Security, 1. Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then press ENTER. 2. On the File or the Action menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in. 3. In the Add/Remove Snap-in dialog box, click Add. 4. On the Standalone tab, click Add. In the Available Standalone Snap-in dialog box, click Group Policy , and then click Add. The Group Policy Wizard appears. 5. In the Group Policy Wizard, Click Finish 6. Close the Add Standalone Snap-in window by clicking the Close button 7. Click OK in the Add/Remove Snap-in dialog box. 8. Under User Configuration, expand Windows Settings, expand Internet Explorer Maintenance, and then click Security. 9. In the right pane, double-click Security Zones and Content Ratings. 10. Under Security Zones and Privacy, click Import the current security zones and privacy settings, and then click Modify Settings. 11. Select the zone that you would like to modify, and click Custom Level 12. Modify the settings to enable the Submit nonencrypted form data option by selecting the enable radio button for that option. If it is already enabled, then just click the OK button. The zone where the setting should be enabled is determined by the zone where the target URL of the POST operation is classified. For example, when you post to an Internet URL, you must enable this option for the internet zone. 13. Restart the process that is running ServerXMLHTTP. To do this, you may have to restart your computer.
