OLE error code 0x80070005: Access is denied?? hanoirocks (IS/IT--Management) (OP) 14 Feb 08 14:51 Hi, I tried posting this in the TS forum, but nobody seems to have an answer.I have a Terminal Server with several applications. There are error code 0x80070005 two applications that have a FoxPro back end. One day one of the apps started getting an error code "OLE error code 0x80070005: Access is denied" when trying to launch it.This started popping up during mid afternoon. No updates were made to the server and I'm the only one with Admin rights. I've searched the web and found this error only in development forums. I'm assuming it's some rights issue that's gotten screwed up in the registry or DCOM perhaps? The only way to get rid of this error is to give users Admin rights on the Terminal Server which is not a great option. I have this application on workstations connecting to a server mapped drive. There are no problems launching the app from a workstation. It seems it's just a problem on the Terminal Server.I'd be grateful if anybody has any insight to this. BTW the other Foxpro app seems to work fine, but I think it's an older versionPlatform: Windows 2003 Server with SP2Thanks in advance RE: OLE error code 0x80070005: Access is denied?? Windows Update: Access Denied Error Code 80070005 This is often caused because you are not an Administrator, or do not have administrator priveleges. A well phrased problem is half of the cure, and in this case just make sure tht your account has the 'top dog' administrator priveleges, and is using them. Once you have logged off an logged on again (as Admin) just re-apply the Windows Update or hotfix. Incidentally, insufficient rights or priveleges is a common thread of other types of Access Denied problems in general, and code 80070005 in particular. Registry Fixes for Error Code 80070005 To be frank, I think that most people offering to sell you a registry cleaner that will cure your 80070005 error are scam merchants. If that's the case, then it's likely to be permissions related, e.g. check that the IUSR_machinename account has execute permissions and that it has write access to any temporary files you use. You may also want to check that in IIS, you have enabled scripts + executables permissions on your website access denied / virtual directories. I assume the same comments apply - check that the user Apache runs as has all the relevant permissions. I'm also not quite clear from your reply whether running your script outside of Apache works or not - if it doesn't then I'd say you need to fix that before addressing any problems with running it via CGI.[reply] Re^4: Win32::OLE(0.1403) error 0x80070005: "Access is denied" by jarlakhnet (Novice) on Nov 03, 2005 at 13:13UTC Hi Below is the code I tried to run under the command Prompt. #!C:/Perl/bin/perl.exe # use strict; use Win32::OLE qw(in with); use Win32::OLE::Const 'Microsoft Excel'; $Win32::OLE::Warn = 3; my $Excel = Win32::OLE->GetActiveObject('Excel.Application') || Win32::OLE->new('Excel.Application', 'Quit'); my $Book = $Excel->Workbooks->Open("D:\\tmp\\Temp.xls"); $Book->Close; $Excel->quit(); [download] [reply][d/l] Re^4: Win32::OLE(0.1403) error 0x80070005: "Access is denied" by jarlakhnet (Novi
