Cause The error happened because the master password that was specified to create the database is not the same with the master password set in Odoo to allow the PostgreSQL database operations. Resolution The solution to the access denied error is easy. Just make sure that the master password for the database operations is correct. By default, if you have never changed the master password, or if your Odoo is newly installed, or the Odoo config file doesn't contain admin_password value, or the admin_password variable is commented out, or no configuration file is specified, then the default master password is admin. But if the "admin" master password does not

the Manage Database in Odoo login screen. Then I selected the bitnami_openerp database for backup and the backup zip format. I get access denied. Follow the instructions of https://community.bitnami.com/t/access-denied-manager-database/36550 the BitNami Odoo documentation: "... ) using the application. You will find this line at /opt/bitnami/apps/odoo/conf/openerp-server.confadmin_passwd = random_password If you want to set another password, you have to change that line and https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-and-set-up-openerp-7-0-on-a-debian-7-ubuntu-13-10-vps set the password that you want. After that, you have to restart your server. sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh restart apache" And still I keep getting the message Access Denied fer 2015-09-01 12:50:57 UTC #2 access denied Hi @andertruth, I could reproduce your issue and I think it is a bug of the application. When you change your password, via config file or using the Password option on the left panel on the Manage Database menu, it changes on the config file but that password appears hardcoded in other file. Would you mind following these steps? Go to /opt/bitnami/apps/odoo/conf/openerp-server.conf and change admin_passwd odoo server error = with any random password you want. Copy it. Go to this file: /opt/bitnami/apps/odoo/lib/odoo-8.0_20150423-py2.7.egg/openerp/tools/config.py And look for this line: 'admin_passwd': 'PASS', There you should paste the password you copied on the other config file. Restart apache and try again to backup your database sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh restart apache Cheers,Fernando andertruth 2015-09-01 21:08:52 UTC #3 First step ok! Go to /opt/bitnami/apps/odoo/conf/openerp-server.conf and change admin_passwd = with any random password you want. Copy it. Second stage failed! Go to this file:/opt/bitnami/apps/odoo/lib/odoo-8.0_20150423-py2.7.egg/openerp/tools/config.pyAnd look for this line: 'admin_passwd' 'PASS' I edited the file and send through the Filezilla SFTP get the following error message: /opt/bitnami/apps/odoo/lib/odoo-8.0_20150423-py2.7.egg/openerp/tools/config.py: open for write: permission deniedFile transfer failed fer 2015-09-02 10:08:52 UTC #4 Hi @andertruth You can't edit files that have root permissions with FileZilla. To edit that second file you need to access via SSH to the server and edit it with a command line editor (as vim, emacs or nano) or use WinSCP. Please take a look at this wiki page https://wiki.bitnami.com/howto/How_to_connect_to_your_server#Editing_files Regards,Fernando andertruth 2015-09-02 12:18:15 UTC #5 Hi fer Okay, I changed files using putty ssh and nano editor. With over 3000 modules, its capabilities are vast - and so are possible benefits it brings for businesses and organizations. Thanks to its release under the terms of GNU Affero General Public License (AGPLv3), OpenERP is free to use and share. In this tutorial, we will show you how easy it is to have a running copy of OpenERP 7.0 (its latest stable release) in less than 15 minutes on a Debian/Ubuntu VPS. A minimal level of technical knowledge is all you need to get started! Note: It is recommended to start with a freshly instantiated VPS in order to prevent any possible issues, due to the large amount of OpenERP dependencies. Do not forget to update and upgrade your system's default software packages with the following commands after logging on: aptitude update aptitude upgrade Installing and Setting Up OpenERP Installation Process (~5 minutes) We will be using a pre-packaged version of the application to install it on our system. This makes things infinitely easier, as it is going to install all the dependencies and set them up correctly to work with OpenERP, thus producing us a clean copy. Let's start with adding the download URL (address) to the aptitude repository sources: echo "deb http://nightly.openerp.com/7.0/nightly/deb/ ./" >> /etc/apt/sources.list Afterwards, we need to update the list: aptitude update Now we are ready to download and install OpenERP and its dependencies! Note: The OpenERP package itself is not signed, and a cryptographic key is not provided. Therefore, aptitude will warn you that it can not be authenticated, requesting you to install it without verification. After entering the command below, you will be asked t
