Access Denied. If You Are Using The Local Administrators Group To Manage Permissions
Query WMI object on a machine in another forest, and providing the domain credentials for that domain, still I get runbook designer access denied the "A WMI connection error has occured." Have tried reinstalling console as in the other thread mentioned, no go. As soon as i change it back to a machine in the same the rpc server is unavailable domain, and update the credentials it works no problem. Tried running WMIC locally from the action server that i am running the policy, to query bios info on a remote host (different forest + domain creds) all good. So WMI connection is ok, something in Opalis keeps failing?? Cheers Wednesday, July 06, 2011 1:35 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote OK thanks. After lots of trial and error, I managed to get a workaround going, used the .Net Script object and wrote a powershell script which runs a WMI query, then the tricky part was to get user credentials working. As the object runs under opalis credentials so no good in another domain. Went down the line of creating a secure string (encrypted password) to use in credentials when running the WMI query. Powershell 1 Make sure you run this with Opalis (got this to work only in test mode, run once to generate key then can delete for security) $path = "location of output.txt for encrypted password" $secure = ConvertTo-SecureString "password" -AsPlainText -Force $bytes = ConvertFrom-SecureString $secure new-item -force -path $path -value $bytes -type file Powershell 2 #Get a secure string $secret = cat "output from before.txt" | convertto-securestring $creds = new-object -typename System.Management.Automation.PSCredential -argumentlist "$domain\serviceAccountInTargetDomain",$secret $colItems = Get-WmiObject Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration -Namespace "root\CIMV2" -Credential $creds -computername $servName -ErrorAction stop | Where {$_.IPEnabled -eq “TRUE”} etc... WMI is Windows Management Instrumentation, which is an interface through which Windows components can provide information and notifications to each other, often between remote computers (more info about WMI). Failover Clustering and System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) often use WMI to communicate between cluster nodes, so if there is an issue contacting a cluster node, WMI may be the culprit. We use WMI in most of our wizards, such as ‘Create Cluster Wizard’, ‘Validate a Configuration Wizard’, and ‘Add Node Wizard’, so any of the following messages and warnings we list could be due to WMI issues: · "RPC Server Unavailable" error. · Access is Denied. · The computer ‘Node1’ could not be reached. · Failed to retrieve the maximum number of nodes for ‘{0}’. · The computer ‘Node1.contoso.com’ does not have the Failover Clustering feature installed. Use Server Manager to install the feature on this computer. o Note: first confirm you have installed the Failover Clustering feature on this node Troubleshooting Steps Follow these serie
7, 20112 Share 0 0 For me the issue was happening with Powershell and Get-Winevent, but it could happen with any number of actions. In my instance the problem occurs whenwe wereusing across-forest single sign-on account https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/brad_rutkowski/2011/03/07/solution-for-a-security-package-specific-error-occurred/ to manage multiple Active Directory forests. In this case ifthere are multiple computer accounts with the same name in play and one of those stale computer accounts resides in the same http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/Logon/code/code_80070005.htm domain as your user account it can cause Kerberos to freak out: PS C:\> get-winevent -ComputerName Server1 -LogName "Microsoft-Exch…" Get-WinEvent : A security package specific error occurred At line:1 char:13 access denied + get-winevent <<<< -ComputerName Server1 -LogName "Microsoft-Exch" + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Get-WinEvent], EventLogException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : System.Diagnostics.Eventing.Reader.EventLogException,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.GetWinEventCommand
- Access Denied This is a common VBScript, WScript, or IIS error mesage. Introduction to Error Code 80070005 My gut feeling is that 8070005 is a catch-all error code for any number of database / DCOM connection problems. If I had to stick my neck out, I would say that it's a permissions problem. Thanks to readers sending in information on this error code, we are slowly building up a library of problems, and even more importantly, solutions. Following the line number, I would turn my attention to permissions, are you logged on as an administrator? What is the script trying to achieve? Does the file or folder referenced need admin rights? Next, move check out the Source: = service. Does this mean anything to you? Research the name of the service using built-in help. See more about diagnosing VBScript problems. Windows Update: Access Denied Error Code 80070005 This is often caused because you are not an Administrator, or do not have administrator priveleges. A well phrased problem is half of the cure, and in this case just make sure tht your account has the 'top dog' administrator priveleges, and is using them. Once you have logged off an logged on again (as Admin) just re-apply the Windows Update or hotfix. Incidentally, insufficient rights or priveleges is a common thread of other types of Access Denied problems in general, and code 80070005 in particular. Registry Fixes for Error Code 80070005 To be frank, I think that most people offering to sell you a registry cleaner that will cure your 80070005 error are scam merchants. If I am wrong, and you want to go down that route at leaset pay with card, that way there is a chance that you can get a refund if I am right and the tool does nothing useful.
