You could ask them about this. About the access denied message, this is usually because of incorrect login credentials. Double-check the username and password provided by your host and try again. You might also ask your host for assistance. share|improve this answer answered Jan 21 at 21:13 Isaac Bennetch 4,9071821 5 Actually this happens even though the credentials are right –Collins A Apr 26 at 23:16 add a comment| up vote 4 down vote Even I faced the login err

Here is what I'm doing. I'm connected to my Amazon EC2 instance. I can login with MySQL root with this command: mysql -u root -p Then I created a new user bill with host % CREATE USER 'bill'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'passpass'; Granted all the access denied for privileges to user bill: grant all privileges on *.* to 'bill'@'%' with grant option; Then I exit from root user and try to login with bill: mysql -u bill -p entered the correct password and got this error: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'bill'@'localhost' (using password: YES) mysql access-denied share|improve this question edited Sep 6 at 17:44 Jaap 1,2081431 asked Apr 24 '12 at 13:42 Ali 1,88081738 14 Did you FLUSH PRIVILEGES? –eggyal Apr 24 '12 at 14:10 1 Nope. Let me try that –Ali Apr 24 '12 at 14:15 1 Okay, I tried this without any success. Any other suggestion please. –Ali Apr 25 '12 at 4:35 1 What version of the server are you running? I've seen 5.1 behave oddly about this. –Poodlehat Jun 27 '12 at 14:27 1 This happened to me while installing Magento and I made a much sillier mistake. Putting 'mysql -u magento -p magento' was prompting me for a password and instead of the default password I was putting the root password in. –AmirHd Oct 29 '13 at 3:26 | show 4 more comments 26 Answers 26 active oldest votes up vote 283 down vote accepted You probably have a
back/reset. Was working through the Bootstrap to Wordpress project, and had everything up and running, until I changed the password of the database. The password and user were both set to 'root' as in the video, before I edited everything. When I click on phpMyAdmin from the MAMP start page I get the following error: 1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) I've checked google/you tube/stack overflow and can't find a solution which I understand. When I go to localhost in a browser, I can still access and edit the localwp site I set up from the Local Wordpress Development project. When I click on my bootstrap_to_wp folder in the directory it displays 'error establishing a database connection'. Is there a way to undo my actions? 15 Answers PRO Chris Pauciello Pro Student 26,598 Points Chris Pauciello Chris Pauciello Pro Student 26,598 Points over 2 years ago To shutdown MAMP's MySQL server from the terminal you unfortunately need to use the root user/password /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysqladmin -u root -p shutdown Without that, it yells at you. $ /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysqladmin shutdown /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysqladmin: shutdown failed; error: 'Access denied; you need (at least one of) the SHUTDOWN privilege(s) for this operation Instead just go ahead and click the 'stop servers' button in MAMP. or If you have the 'Stop Servers when Quitting MAMP' selected under preferences, you can just go ahead and quit MAMP to stop it. With the MAMP servers stopped, you can start the MySQL server from the terminal using the MySQL Server Startup Script with the options --skip-networking-tables for unrestricted access to all of the databases and --skip-networking to stop remote access. Copy and paste the following into the terminal and press enter. /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables --skip-networking --socket=/Applications/MAMP/tmp/mysql/mysql.sock --lower_case_table_names=0 --pid-file=/Applications/MAMP/tmp/mysql/mysql.pid & Something similar to the following should pop up in your terminal, press enter when it does to get back to th
