It has many problems, the source of which seems to be that the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service doesn't start. As a consequence Windows Update, System Information, System Restore, User & Accounts control https://forums.malwarebytes.org/topic/32414-remote-procedure-call-rpc-cryptographic-service-doesnt-start/ panel, printers, Windows Firewall, ActiveX, and many other things all don't work.I can't install anything. And when I go into Device Manager, Services, or other things like that, I can't view the properties of any items.Almost all services don't work, maybe they depend on Remote Procedure Call too?If I go into Services (only Standard view works), I can see that Remote Procedure Call is set as "Automatic" startup type, but is not "Started" at all.Any attempt to start it manually results in the error "Could not start the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service on Local Computer. Error 5: Access is Denied".1. Windows Firewall does not start up as it used to. - Tried turning it on through the Control Panel - Windows Firewall. Error Message: "Windows Firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service not running. Do you want to start the windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ICS) service?" If i select Yes, I get "Windows cannot start the ICS service."- Same error occurs when I go through the Security Center.- Trying to start the service manually results in this error: "Could not start the windows firewall connection sharing (I

The first problem is that i do NOT have a windows disk on me, im on vacation and internet is my only resource. Second, After a long bout with 100's of virus's i believe my pc is now clean, but my RPC is not able to start. If i bring up Services.msc it will come up as normal but if i try to access is denied activate anything it says "Error 5: access denied". Ive done some research and came up with a few unsuccessful solutions. First was editing it through regedit and trying to turn it on in the registry, also tried associating it with my hardware profile in the registry as well, following microsofts instructions (sorry cant post link) and instructions left by others with my problem online. All are unsuccessful. Ive read something about altering my policies through gpedit.msc or secpol.msc though i have very limited experience with policies and modifying them. I have attempted to reload the default policies but to no avail. Since my RPC is not on, everything on my pc is limited to performing less than safemode. Ive searched everything everywhere using every search engine, and no help... Please someone help me. Sorry for the massive wall of text. [Problem 1] RPC not running [Problem 2] Cannot modify Services in services.msc [Problem 3] Cannot boot into safemode normally ~Technophobic Oct 9, 2009 #1 Tmagic650 TS Ambassador Posts: 17,230 +232 "Second, After a long bout with 100's of virus's i believe my pc is now clean"... Windows 7: Limited connectivity, DHCP Client not starting Page 1 of 2 1 2 > 13 Nov 2011 #1 vaiolady Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) 3 posts Limited connectivity, DHCP Client not starting Hi. I used to be able to connect to the internet before with no problems. 2 wks ago, the Wireless connection started showing "LIMITED CONNECTIVITY", though, it can see all the wifi networks available in the area. Other computers and wifi enabled devices can all connect easily to the same network. I've tried the following solutions(from the forums) already: -re-installing drivers, disabling-enabling network adapters -made sure the passwords are correct -disabling firewalls -turning on-off (5mins) the router +PC -removing and reloading the network -scanned software/hardware for problems thru built in "vaio care" (indicated that everything is running normally) I also tried to run the Network Diagnostics but this error msg always appear= "The Diagnostics Policy Service is not running."- even if i run it as an administrator.. Checked the Local Services and found out that DHCP Client is not running- Tried starting it several times but it won't start and this error msg always appear "Windows could not start the DHCP CLient service on local Comp. Error 5: Access is denied." I'd appreciate any help/assistance/idea from anyone. Been trying to sort this one out for 4 days now, and still found no solution. Thanks for taking time in reading this.
