We have WDS installed on Server 2008 R2 but it's likely the same for Server 2012. Option 66 should point to your https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/758949-wds-deployment-pxe-errors WDS server. Option 67 should specify the boot file name. In our environment: Text067 Bootfile Name String Value: boot\x86\wdsnbp.com The drive letter on the server isn't important as you have to setup a share on the WDS server that contains your boot and install images. 1 Sonora OP Jason2721 Jan 27, 2015 at 2:07 UTC Hmm ill give that another go then, not sure if anyone else has some ideas. 0 Chipotle OP HopTroll Jan 27, 2015 at 3:24 UTC Do you have the "REMINST" folder shared on the WDS server? Inside that, is there a "Boot" folder that contains your boot images? For example, if you go \\WDSSERVER\ and press enter does it show the REMINST folder? 0 Sonora OP Jason2721 Jan 27, 2015 at 4:53 UTC The only Reminst folder I see is under c\windows\system32, and it does have the boot folder inside of there, also I am still confused if my 67 string file value is correct. 0 Chipotle OP HopTroll Jan 27, 2015 at 5:20 UTC But is the Reminst folder shared? If it's not shared, the clients won't be able to PXE boot from it. This is why you should do \\wdsserver from a domain joined computer to make sure it's shared properly. Where the Reminst folder resides on the WDS server doesn't matter. This is important because the string value in Option 67 must
SYMPTOM When being started, the PXE client comes up with the PXE copyright message and completes the DHCP phase, but then displays: PXE-E36: access violation Error received from TFTP server Depending on the PXE client's system setup boot device list configuration, the PC then either stops or tries to boot from the next boot pxe-t04 access violation device in the system setup boot device list. CAUSE The "PXE-E36" error indicates that the PXE client received a TFTP error packet from the TFTP server. This means that the TFTP server has encountered an error of some sort, and wants to inform the PXE client about this. RESOLUTION If the PXE client does not display a textual error message, check the TFTP server log. This should contain more detailed information about the error and what might have caused it. I am doing some testing on SCCM 2007 and installed SCCM 2007 SP1 on Windows 2008. Trying to do a PXE boot on a bare metal client, after it gets IP address, it says: PXE-T04: Access violation PXE-E36: Error received from TFTP server. I am successfully deploying images using boot disks with Task sequeces etc... and now want to tackle PXE. I have distributed the 64 and 32 bit bootimage to the pxeserver. firewall is turned off on pxe server Added Options 66 and 67 to TFTP Server I can get to it fine from my computer command line: C:\Users\Administrator>tftp -iSERVER_IP GET /boot/x86/pxeboot.com I have tried reinstalling PXE,WDS etc as per sntry below: 1. Remove the SMS PXE role. Look at the PXESetup.log file to verify that the uninstall is complete and successful. 2. Uninstall the WDS server. 3. Reboot the machine. 4. Re-install the WDS server, but “do not configure itâ€. Do nothing at all other than installing WDS. 5. Add the SMS PXE role. Look at the PXESetup.log file to verify that the installation is complete and successful. 6. Add the boot images to the SMS PXE DP share. Look at the distmgr.log file to verify that the replication of the boot image to the DP is complete and successful. 7. Try booting a PXE client.Any help is appreciated.BTW : i tried this as well:http://forums.techarena.in/windows-server-help/927434.htm #1 danielbleyer Total Posts : 114 Scores: 1 Reward points : 4470 Joined: 12/6/2007 Status: offline RE: PXE OSD issue - Error PXE-E36 Tuesday, July 21, 2009 5:15 AM (permalink) 0 SOLVED!!!! 066 Boot Server Hostname - SERVER.FQDN.COM 067 Bootfile Name - \SMSBoot\x86\wdsnbp.com On PXE server open WDS and make sure it is set to not respond to clients and delay of 1 second. On SCCM Console set delay for PXE to 0 seconds and the Database access has to be a Network account - not a machine account #2 Online Bookmarks Sharing: Jump to: Jump to - - - - - - - - - - [General Tech Discussion] - - - - General Tech Discussion Forum - - - - IT/Dev Connections [Management] - - - - System Center Suite - - - - - - - - [Advisor] - - - - - - - - - - - - System Center Advisor - - - - - - - - [Configuration Manager] - - - - - - - - - - - - ConfigMgr 2012 - - - - - - - - - - - - ConfigMgr 2007 - - - - - - - - - - - - SMS 2003 - - - - - - - - [Data Protection Manager] - - - - - - -
