Subsequently, I need to increment the port number each time to avoid this. It's not the case on all servers, however, so I'm wondering how I might achieve this on the current port already in use mac system that I'm working on? BTW, the platform is Ubuntu 8.10 django share|improve this question asked May 18 '09 at 23:15 Antonius Common 97141931 This problem applies to more than just Django, So perhaps we can change the title? I ran into this error when running an Angular app. I found this question with google search how to kill port 8000 yet this applied to me as well. By changing the title and making the scope more general, we could prevent some redundant questions later. –JGallardo May 21 '14 at 19:04 add a comment| 15 Answers 15 active oldest votes up vote 29 down vote accepted You're getting that message because the server is already running (possibly in the background). Make sure to kill the process (bring it to the foreground and press ctrl-c) to stop the process. share|improve this answer answered May 18 '09 at 23:22 mipadi 214k51380401 2 right! I think I've been using ctrl-z! –Antonius Common May 19 '09 at 2:02 Ctrl+z is undo. If you don't see a command prompt, your server is still running. –Soviut May 20 '09 at 0:19 11 ctrl-

Port Already In Use Visual Studio
You probably had XAMPP or MAMP configured to start MySQL and PHP on system startup and by default MySQL uses port 3306. That's why Workbench gets a blocked port http://stackoverflow.com/questions/880239/how-to-clear-the-port-when-restarting-django-runserver error. Like Ricky says in his answer try changing the port to 3307 or just start your XAMPP/MAMP application and stop MySQL manually in there before trying to connect using Workbench. 1 Answer Ricky Catron 12,999 Points Ricky Catron Ricky Catron 12,999 Points over 1 year ago This most likely means you already have either MySQL installed or https://teamtreehouse.com/community/in-the-mysql-installation-i-got-an-error-stating-the-port-3306-was-already-in-use-httpscreencastcomtkpsbyandd some other program which is using the port. The quick way to go this would be simply change the port to 3307 in instillation. The better way would to be to stop whatever program is using the port and then try the install. There are some good answers to find and stop the program: here Goodluck! --Ricky Posting to the forum is only allowed for members with active accounts. Please sign in or sign up to post. it says that port 8080 is already in use so I can not use it … What I did ? 1- Find what application/process is using the pro, type: sudo netstat -lpn |grep https://geekbrigade.wordpress.com/2009/02/26/how-to-find-and-kill-a-process-that-is-using-a-particular-port-in-ubuntu/ :8080 and press Enter. You will get an output similar to this one tcp6 0 0 :::8080 :::* LISTEN 6782/java 2- I have got the process Id, which is 6782, now this is the process that is using port 8080. 3- Kill the process, type:kill 6782 kill 6782 and now port 8080 is free. 🙂 Like this:Like Loading...
