I was getting confused by the error messages when I tried to specify which email addresses to use with iMessage, but I have now sorted it out.email addresses are associated with Apple IDs and cannot be associated with more than one Apple ID at the same time. you need to decide which email addresses you wish to use with which Apple IDs.go to My Apple ID and manage all of your Apple IDs one at a time, removing and adding email addresses as you require.cheers,Gregory Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by Everstu, Everstu Jul 10, 2012 7:03 AM in response to roblister Level 1 (0 points) Jul 10, 2012 7:03 AM in response to roblister So here's what worked for me. "Unable to verify already in email because it is already in use" 6 posts MightySpoon Ars Legatus Legionis Registered: Nov 18, 2001Posts: 21885 Posted: Wed Oct 12, 2011 4:35 pm Anyone have insight into this?Situation:mygmail@gmail.com -- Main AppleID, iTunes account, etc. myicloud@me.com -- iCloud née MobileMeMy iPad and iPhone are setup thusly -- myicloud@me.com for iCloud and mygmail@gmail.com for iTunes store, App Store, etc.I would like to standardize my iMessage to my phone number and already in use my mygmail@gmail.com account. mygmail@gmail.com is my main contact and I'd like to receive those iMessages on my iPad and iPhone. The problem is that iMessage has autofilled myicloud@me.com and I can't remove it. Which is fine, in theory, because you can add another address for which to receive messages. However, when I add mygmail@gmail.com and try to Verify, it returns the error message "Unable to verify email because it is already in use"I've checked http://appleid.apple.com and mygmail@gmail.com is obviously a "verified" AppleID, which I've used for years for purchasing from iTMS. On a lark, I thought maybe I could add it as an alt or even main for myicloud@me.com. However, AppleID won't let me because it's verified for mygmail@gmail.com. For shits, I turned mygmail@gmail.com into an iCloud account but that didn't fix it as far as I can tell. Since my existing @me.com account has 25 GB of MM space grandfathered in for the year (apparently), I'd rather not just dump it. Anyone encountered and/or solved this? Googling indicates a similar error for folks during the FaceTime beta era but I don't really see any reason why this error is happening. terafin Seniorius Lurkius Tribus: Cupertino Registered: Feb 7, 2005Posts: 7 Posted: Wed Oct 12, 2011 4:38

Here are some troubleshooting tips! By Allyson Kazmucha Tuesday, Apr 2, 2013 at 11:26 am EDT 18 Comments While iMessage is a great service that lets iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac users correspond for free with any other iOS user, it can also be a bag of hurt at times. One of the largest issues I see people complain about is the verification issue. Namely, iMessage will randomly sign you out of your account and you're kicked back to the login screen when you launch the Messages app. You sign back in and iMessage asks you to choose the numbers and emails you'd like, you click next, and the verification step rudely throws you back to the login screen. If this sounds like an issue you've had, follow along and we'll walk you through how to try and resolve it. Check iCloud system status The first thing you'll want to do before attempting to troubleshoot an issue is to check and make sure iMessage is up and
