home wifi, I get the "Authentication Error Occurred" message. My router settings have not changed, my password has not changed - all other devices in my household are able to connect to the wifi without any http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/279608-wifi-authentication-error-galaxy-3-a.html issues. I have tried rebooting my phone, rebooting my router. I have also tried factory resetting both my phone and my router - no luck. My wifi has a WPS function - I also tried using this without any success (no authentication error occurred message - just times out when trying to use the push button or pin technique). I have disabled mac address filtering, firewalls etc. the most bizarre thing is, http://androidforums.com/threads/wifi-authentication-error-occurred-galaxy-s3-on-4-0-4.615790/ i turned off my router security (i.e. no security settings) and i STILL get authentication error occurred message. The weird thing is, it seems to work on some routers and not others. I am able to connect to my parents wifi, and my friends wifi, but not my own, and not at my work (was previously able to prior to upgrading to 4.0.4). Another weird thing - my router is dual band - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I am able to connect to the 5Ghz band, but not the 2.4Ghz band. Using 5Ghz is not an option for me though, as the range is quite poor. I need to be able to use the 2.4Ghz band. I'm at my wits end, I dont know what else to do. Does anyone else have this problem? Has anyone had any luck fixing it? Does anyone have any suggestions? I've gone through AT&T help and they say it's the phone. I've gone through Sprint (phone & service provider) and they say nothing is wrong with the phone. Samsung support also says nothing wrong with the phone. It connects to unsecured networks no problem. If I turn security "off" on my U-Verse router, it connects no problem. With security "on", I get an "authentication error occurred" error message on the phone, even though the status bar on the phone shows it sees my router at excellent strength. I have verified the password with correct upper and lower case. I've connected to several unsecured WiFi without issue. The only secured network I have connected to is at work. I know they don't have U-Verse, but I have no idea what the WiFi brand is. It connects no problem with security on and my office password. The phone is running Android 4.0.4. I've changed router settings to use channel 11 and power level 400. I've rebooted the router and reset the phone. I can also see the phone's MAC address on the router, so I know they are seeing each other. wi-fi samsung-galaxy-s-3 connection-issues att share|improve this question edited Nov 14 '13 at 5:13 eldarerathis♦ 31.4k13111153 asked Oct 11 '12 at 21:50 JB Sommerfeldt 11112 1 What is the authentication on the Uverse router? –t0mm13b Oct 11 '12 at 22:46 Additional hint to t0mm13b's question: Could it be WPA/WPA2 are both enabled simultaneously? –Izzy♦ Oct 12 '12 at 6:36 Default: WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA2-PSK (AES) –JB Sommerfeldt Oct 15 '12 at 3:58 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Routers from Mikrotik with RouterOS has problems with 4.0.4 Androids as well.
