(some servers need just 'username' instead of 'username@domain.com') Have you tried different authentification methods (none=port 25, SSL=port 465, TLS=port 25) Have you tried to send emails without login (some SMTP servers need login with username and password, some don't) If your server uses self-signed certificates,

you have to allow use of self-signed certificates in email client ( Issue 1016 - android - Email app should allow connecting to servers with untrusted certificates - Project Hosting on Google Code ), sometimes install of certificates is not possible ( Issue 6207 - android - Cannot import CA certificates - Project Hosting on Google Code ) Nice how-to for Droid SMTP can be also found on DROID X - Can't Send an Email When nothing works, you can try to use k9mail instead of built-in client, its working fine on my (and thousands of others) phone. hope it helps best regards David Aug 17, 2010 #2 BeerRun13 New Member Joined: Sep 3, 2010 Messages: 1 Likes Received: 0 Yeah, this was a big let down. I use Netfirms for our e-mail server, and they confirmed that the Droid X does not support their authentication requirements... ugh. Speaking to Verizon, it is a known issue, and Motorola/Google intends to fix, but there is no date set for this. I went ahead and installed K9, and it seems to work for me, except for one issue... I have an email address from an organization that I'm in that uses their POP, with my SMTP for outgoing... I can't seem to set a different username/password for each s

Please note in my case my outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication and the log in info is the SAME as my incoming server.I have spent the last 3 days troubleshooting this issue and wanted to share my findings hoping it may help others.I have been using my DroidX to send an receive e-mails using a pop3 e-mail account on my own domain that I host through MyDomains.com.I have never had a problem sending or receiving in the past 5 months. Twitter How to fix the two-factor authentication log-in error in Gmail on Android Can't log in to the Gmail Android app after enabling two-factor authentication option? It's easy to fix! Rohan Pearce (Techworld Australia) 17 November, 2011 16:38 - - - - print email Comments I'm a fan of being secure, so naturally I decided to turn on two-factor authentication for my Google account. Essentially what this means is that every time you access your Google account from a new computer or other device for the first time you will need to enter a code that is sent to your mobile phone as an SMS (or you can install an app to generate the codes yourself). (You will need to reauthorise devices every 30 days — there's also an option to have the authentication expire early.)However, I (and a lot of other people judging from a quick Web search) encountered a problem with my Android phone after enabling two-factor authentication: The Gmail app wouldn't let me log in, and I couldn't find any option to get Google to send me an authentication code for the app (the mobile Gmail site still worked fine after obtaining a code). It turns out the solution is simple. The reason the problem happens is, as Google notes (and as I completely ignored when switching on the two-factor authentication option), not all Google apps are compatible with the system yet. However, Google offers the option of using a browser to generate a special application-specific password.Simply go to your Google account settings, and select the option to edit your two-factor settings. Then select the option 'Manage application-specific passwords'. This will prompt you two enter a name for the device you're authorising (in my case my HTC Desire HD Android phone). You can then generate a random password that will let you use the Android Gmail app. (You can also revoke access from the same interface.)Problem solved! Join the TechWorld newsletter!
