Digsby is now open source (https://github.com/tagged/digsby) I was able to have a look at the code and fix the problem they had with missing GMail notifications. See these two threads on the support forum: GMail Notifications Gone? digsby yahoo authentication error Digsby no longer connecting to GMail They have closed their forum so I am unable digsby google talk authentication error to post the fix there. SOLUTION to fix Digsby Below is the solution for whomever wants to have their Digsby working again with GMail:

Digsby Hotmail Failed To Connect

1. Close and exit Digsby 2. Go the the Digsby installation folder the navigate to: lib/plugins/component_gmail 3. In this folder delete the file called gmail.pyo 4. From this website download this zip archive: gmail.pyo.zip. Unpack the file and http://forum.digsby.com/viewtopic.php?pid=15005 you should have a new gmail.pyo to put it back where Digsby is installed in lib/plugins/component_gmail (SHA1: 34c6789c1bd525853e83b4b0a437c429f75cf245) 5. Restart Digsby and Gmail notifications should be working again! Use the comments sections or the contact page if you need further assistance with this. Is this Safe? This is a valid concern. Trusting code from "strangers" may not be a good idea… If you are worried about password theft and what not, you can see here what changes I http://softconsultant.ro/2013/05/13/solution-for-digsby-gmail-notifications/ have done: Digsby Patch Also, above there is the SHA1 hash of the ZIP with the patch. That is a sort of signature for the Archive. If your archive has has a different signature then it is NOT from me. This fix is provided AS IS, no guarantees that it will work for everybody, so use it at your own risk. I've fixed it for me, and published the fix in case others enjoy Digsby as well. Do You want to say Thanks? Buy me a cup of tea PS: I just want to say that I am very touched by the people that have donated. I did not even think to post a donate button until someone actually asked for it in the comments… Update on February 7th, 2014 - The GMail notifications stopped working a few days ago. Looking in the log files it seems that Google changed how the inbox was being read. Their own old application (GMailNotifier) stopped working as well. What seems to have happened is that GMail has dropped their previous protocol ("ui=pb") and that was what Digsby was using. The only fix is to rewrite the GMail plugin in digsby to use the new JavaScript interface. But that is too big an effort for me right now. Facebook, you might have noticed that things behave strangely -- the program pops up a window looking like this when it tries to connect to Facebook: Then after you give https://luckytoilet.wordpress.com/2012/01/26/fix-for-digsbys-broken-facebook-support/ it your credentials, Digsby still thinks you're not logged in, and so on. https://www.facebook.com/digsby/posts/322935837750247 If you found this page via a google search, there's a simple hack / workaround you can use to patch up this problem. Basically, instead of using the Facebook protocol to connect, we let Digsby use the Jabber protocol as a ‘proxy' to connect to Facebook: Go to Digsby -> My Accounts and authentication error in the Add Accounts section at the top, select the Jabber icon. You should get a window that looks like this: In the Jabber ID box, put your.id@chat.facebook.com, and in the password field, put your facebook password. For example, if your facebook page is at facebook.com/yourname, your Jabber id is yourname@chat.facebook.com. Remove the facebook account from Digsby At this point, you're done: Digsby should give you digsby facebook authentication no more problems about Facebook. Warning: the following is unnecessary and experimental! It might screw up the entire Digsby installation, forcing you to reinstall! However, you can replace the Jabber icon with the Facebook one (this is for purely cosmetic purposes): Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Digsby\res\skins\default\serviceicons (that's the default installation path on my machine, yours may be different) Delete jabber.png, duplicate facebook.png, and rename it jabber.png Restart Digsby There you have it -- hack accomplished: Like this:Like Loading...
